Objectives: To explore the effect of "Xingshen-Jieyu" (inducing resuscitation and dispel ling melancholy) electroacupuncture (EA) on serum metabolites in patients with depression and its underlying mechanisms through serum non-targeted metabolomics.
Methods: Fifteen depression patients were subjected into the EA group, and 15 healthy volunteers were matched into the healthy group. EA (2 Hz/15 Hz, a tolerable strength) was applied to Baihui (GV20), Shenting (GV24), Toulinqi (GB15), Benshen (GB13), Touwei (ST8), Xuanli (GB6) and Qubin (GB7) for 30 min, 3 times a week for 6 weeks.
Introduction: We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of pioglitazone/metformin fixed-dose combination (FDC) versus uptitrated metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) without adequate glycemic control.
Methods: A total of 304 patients were recruited from 15 hospitals in China and randomly assigned (1:1) to the test group (pioglitazone/metformin FDC, 15/500 mg) or the control group (uptitrated metformin, 2000-2500 mg/day). The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients with glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) ≤ 6.
Co-condensation of mixed SiGe nanoclusters and impingement of SiGe nanoclusters on a Si substrate were applied using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation in this study to mimic the fast epitaxial growth of SiGe/Si heterostructures under mesoplasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) conditions. The condensation dynamics and properties of the SiGe nanoclusters during the simulations were investigated first, and then the impingement of transient SiGe nanoclusters on both Si smooth and trench substrate surfaces under varying conditions was studied theoretically. The results show that the mixed nanoclusters as precursors demonstrate potential for enhancing epitaxial SiGe film growth at a high growth rate, owing to their loosely bound atomic structures and high mobility on the substrate surface.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have recently emerged as a novel component of the SASP and primarily mediate the tumor-promoting effect of the SASP. Of note, the potential effect of EVs released from STCs on tumor progression remains largely unknown.

Methods: A total of 204 individuals of nine populations were investigated for genetic diversity and population structure using a set of 12 highly polymorphic microsatellite markers.
An emerging "one stone, three birds" strategy was proposed to realize the value-added disposal of solid waste coal gangue (CG), the synthesis of superb adsorbent and the efficient decontamination of pollutants (i. e., dyes, heavy metals).

Combined therapies are often used in clinical treatment, but, in addition to the relatively high risk of relapse and complexity of the treatment process, side effects remain unknown for combination therapies.
Methods: A total of 99 patients with keloids in 131 positions were included in this retrospective study.
Quercus dentata Thunb., a dominant forest tree species in northern China, has significant ecological and ornamental value due to its adaptability and beautiful autumn coloration, with color changes from green to yellow into red resulting from the autumnal shifts in leaf pigmentation. However, the key genes and molecular regulatory mechanisms for leaf color transition remain to be investigated.

Huangqin decoction (HQD), a Chinese medicine formula used in the clinic for thousands of years, presents appreciable anti-inflammatory effects. Nevertheless, the role and mechanism of HQD against inflammation in NAFLD are still undefined.

Materials And Methods: A high glucose (HG)-induced HK2 cell model and streptozotocin-induced rat model of DN were established and treated with tBHQ or apocynin.
Thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes with efficient molecular separation and organic solvent resistance are active in demand in wastewater treatment and resource reclamation, meeting the goal of emission peaks and carbon neutrality. In this work, a simple and rational design strategy has been employed to construct a sandwich-structured membrane for removing fluoroquinolone antibiotics and recycling organic solvents. The sandwich-structured membrane is composed of a porous substrate, a hydrophilic tannic acid-polyethyleneimine (TA-PEI) interlayer, and a polyamide (PA) selective layer decorated with metal-organic framework (PA-MOF).

In combination and comparison with the non-carcinogenic risk, the results hopefully could provide useful insights, early warning, and references for policy formulation.
Methods: This study firstly investigated the occurrence of chlorothalonil on selected key vegetables for different scenarios, and then conducted an exposure assessment with officially published data.

Oxidative stress is one of most common environmental stresses encountered by fish, especially during their fragile larval stage. More and more studies are aimed at understanding the antioxidant defense mechanism of fish larvae. Herein we characterized the early resistance of zebrafish larvae to oxidative stress and investigated the underlying transcriptional regulations using RNA-seq.

Lilac (Syringa oblata), a well-known woody ornamental plant with obvious petal color changes, is an ideal model. Here, we presented chromosome-scale genome assembly for lilac, resolved the flavonoids metabolism, and identified key genes and potential regulatory networks related to petal color change.

Paeoniae Radix Alba (PRA), the root of Paeonia lactiflora Pall., is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine and an adaptogen used in Hozai, exhibiting appreciable anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity.

The results indicated that the cluster size quickly increased to large clusters by the coalescence of transient small clusters in the growth stage during co-condensation. The transient clusters at different temperatures were verified to have slightly Si-rich compositions and liquid-like structures.

Methods: A computed tomography scan was performed within 2 wk of prechemoradiotherapy to identify sarcopenia, myosteatosis and sarcopenic obesity. Tumor and systemic inflammatory response information was recorded.
We have previously shown that biochanin A exhibits neuroprotective properties in the context of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. The mechanistic basis for such properties, however, remains poorly understood. This study was therefore designed to explore the manner whereby biochanin A controls endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, apoptosis, and inflammation within fetal rat primary cortical neurons in response to oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) injury, and in a rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion (MCAO/R) injury.
