Objective: Little is known about the changing risk profile of death and conditional survival in patients with operable thyroid cancer. This study aimed to investigate the annual hazard rate of cancer death, actuarial disease-specific survival (DSS), and conditional DSS in patients with thyroid cancer and explore the effects of tumor differentiation.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer (N = 132,354) between 2004 and 2019 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database.

Prognostic factors for excellent response (ER) to initial therapy in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) have not been determined. In this study, we investigated the response to initial therapy in PTC patients and independent prognostic factors for ER in a prospective multicenter study in China. A total of 506 PTC patients from nine centers in China were enrolled in this study, all of whom underwent total or near total thyroidectomy with lymph node dissection and subsequent radioiodine therapy.

Oestrogens play an important role in the development and progression of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) through oestrogen receptor (ER)-α and -β, which may exert different or even opposing actions in PTC. The roles of ERβ in ERα-negative PTC are still not clear. This study investigated the expression dynamics of ERβ1 (wild-type ERβ) and its clinical significance in female ERα-negative PTC patients.
