Regulating secondary metabolite (SM) in Myxococcus xanthus bears the potential to influence the formation of important natural products with various biological activities. The authors of this study have previously found that the detectable levels of two proteins (4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase [HppD] and a Hsp90-like protein [HtpG]) are affected by ROK inactivation. As evidence, the current study was designed to elucidate the possible role of these two proteins in regulating the SMs' biosynthesis in this bacterium.

Furthermore, specific adsorption of allergenic anti-enzyme hydrolyzed peptides in the enzymatic products by immunoglobulin G (IgG) bound to magnetic bead further decreased the allergenicity of OVA. The results indicated that microwave treatment disrupts the structure of OVA, increasing the accessibility of OVA to the alkaline protease.

However, few transcription factors that control bacterial antioxidant defense are known. Here, we present evidence that SdrR, encoded by the MSMEG_5712 (Ms5712) gene, functions as an oxidative stress response regulator in Mycobacterium smegmatis.

Objective: To investigate the preventive effects of aqueous extract (ICAE) on high-fat diet (HFD)-induced fatty liver of mice and its mechanisms.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-six male KM (Kunming) mice were divided into 3 groups, including the control group ( = 9), fed with normal diet; HFD group ( = 9), fed with HFD; ICAE + HFD group ( = 8), fed with HFD and administered with ICAE (3 g·kg·d) at the same time for 10 weeks. Body weight, liver weight, intra-abdominal and subcutaneous fat weight, serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), and blood glucose were determined to evaluate the preventive effects of ICAE on obesity.
The detection of mine-based explosives poses a serious threat to the lives of deminers, and carcinogenic residues may cause severe environmental pollution. Whole-cell biosensors that can detect on-site in dangerous or inaccessible environments have great potential to replace conventional methods. Synthetic biology based on engineering modularity serves as a new tool that could be used to engineer microbes to acquire desired functions through artificial design and precise regulation.

OVM was treated with 120-200 °C of SS for 2 to 10 min. The allergenicity (IgG/IgE binding abilities and cell degranulation assay) and molecular structure (main functional groups and amino acids modification) changes were investigated.

Natural polyketides play important roles in clinical treatment, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Compared to natural hosts, heterologous chassis (especially Actinomycetes) have many advantages in production of polyketide compounds. As a widely studied model Actinomycete, is an excellent host to produce valuable heterologous polyketide compounds.

The genome of Mycobacterium smegmatis harbours three FurA orthologs; however, the potential cross-talk and contribution to drug resistance of different furA operon remain underdetermined. In this study, we characterized the cross-regulation and effect in drug resistance of these orthologs from M.

Despite lagging ʟ-ornithine productivity and cost reduction, microbial fermentation is a promising route for sustainable ʟ-ornithine production and thus development of robust microbial strains with high stability and productivity is essential.
Results: Previously, we systematically developed a new strain, SO1 originate from Corynebacterium glutamicum S9114, for ʟ-ornithine production.
The overexpression of bacterial secondary metabolite biosynthetic enzymes is the basis for industrial overproducing strains. Genome editing tools can be used to further improve gene expression and yield. Saccharopolyspora erythraea produces erythromycin, which has extensive clinical applications.

A water-soluble polysaccharide (MCP) was isolated from the fruits of Momordica charantia L., and the hypoglycemic effects of MCP were investigated in both normal healthy and alloxan-induced diabetic mice. MCP was orally administered once a day after 3 days of alloxan-induction at 100, 200 and 300mg/kg body weight for 28 day.
