DNA methylation is a chromatin mark that has a crucial role in regulating gene expression. The chromomethylase (CMT) protein family is a plant-specific DNA methyltransferase that mediates growth and development. However, the roles of CMT3 in autophagy remain to be elucidated.

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor beta (PPARβ) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays critical roles in the regulation of many important physiological processes. In this study, PPARβ was cloned and characterized in yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. PPARβ cDNA was 2350 bp in length with an open reading frame (ORF) of 1530 bp, encoding 509 amino acids, a 5'-untranslated region (UTR) of 474 bp, and a 3'-UTR of 346 bp.

Carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT I) is a key enzyme involved in the regulation of lipid metabolism and fatty acid β-oxidation. To understand the transcriptional mechanism of and genes, we cloned the 2695-bp and 2631-bp regions of and promoters of grass carp (), respectively, and explored the structure and functional characteristics of these promoters. had two transcription start sites (TSSs), while had only one TSS.

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays critical roles in the regulation of many important physiological processes. In the present study, the 1686-bp PPARα promoter for yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco was first cloned and characterized. The transcription start site (TSS) of PPARα gene was mapped using RLM-5'RACE method.

The 42-day experiment was conducted to investigate the effects and mechanism of waterborne Fe exposure influencing hepatic lipid deposition in Synechogobius hasta. For that purpose, S. hasta were exposed to four Fe concentrations (0 (control), 0.

Autophagy mediates the regulation of lipid metabolism. Moreover, our recent study indicated that waterborne and dietborne zinc (Zn) exposure differentially influenced lipid metabolism in a fish species of significance for aquaculture, yellow catfish Pelteobagrus fulvidraco, but further mechanism remained unknown. The hypothesis of the present study is that autophagy mediated the Zn-induced changes of lipid metabolism of yellow catfish subjected to different exposure pathways.

Signal transducers and activators of transcription proteins (STATs) act as important mediators in multiple biological processes induced by a large number of cytokines. In the present study, full-length cDNA sequences of seven STAT members, including some splicing variants different from those in mammals, were obtained from Synechogobius hasta. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that the seven STAT members were derived from paralogous genes that might have arisen by whole genome duplication (WGD) events during vertebrate evolution.
