Four new oleanene-type triterpenoid saponins together with six known saponins were isolated from the roots of Pulsatilla cernua and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data, including 2D NMR spectra and chemical evidence. Among these one of the aglycones (gypsogenin) is reported for the first time from this genus. Some of these compounds showed significant neuroprotective effects against the cytotoxicity induced by β-amyloid(25-35) (Aβ(25-35)) on human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells.

New heteroleptic tris-cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes (ppy)2 Ir(LX) (ppy==2-phenylpyridine, LX==Sal (salicylic acid), Msal (4-methylsalicylic acid), FSal(4-trifluoro methyl salicylic acid)) was synthesized and characterized. The molecular structure, photophysical properties and thermal stability were tested and analyzed. The results show that the absorption peaks were located around 270, 370, 450 and 484 nm respectively at room temperature.

Article Synopsis
  • A new ligand called 5,5'-methylene-bis(8-hydroxyquinoline) (Hqq) was created through a low-temperature condensation reaction and then combined with gallium ions to form a polymer complex (Gaqq3)n.
  • The chemical and phase structures of the ligand and complex were analyzed using techniques like Infrared absorption spectrum and X-ray diffraction (XRD), while their thermal stability and photo-physical properties were examined using thermogravimetry (TG) and ultraviolet absorption spectrum (UV).
  • Results showed that (Gaqq3)n is thermally stable up to 443.6°C, with unique optical properties, including an orange-red fluorescence emission peaking at 568 nm and a

A solgel process was developed, through which silica films possessing both high antireflection and super water repellence were obtained. In this process, methyl-modified SiO2 sols synthesized by colloidal suspension of SiO2 particles and hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) were used to deposit spinning-coating films on optical glass substrates. On the resultant films the contact angle for water increased with the increasing amount of HMDS in the reaction mixture.
