Cold acclimation is critical for the survival of plants in temperate regions under low temperatures, and C-REPEAT BINDING FACTORs (CBFs) are well established as key transcriptional factors that regulate this adaptive process by controlling the expression of cold-responsive genes. Here we demonstrate that CBFs are involved in modulating alternative splicing during cold acclimation through their interaction with subunits of the spliceosome complex. Under cold stress, CBF proteins accumulate and directly interact with SKI-INTERACTING PROTEIN (SKIP), a key component of the spliceosome, which positively regulates acquired freezing tolerance.

Resolving the ecological drivers mediating the diversity patterns of microbial communities across space and through time is a central issue in microbial ecology. Both regional species pools and local community assembly contribute to the spatial turnover of biodiversity. In this study, we extended the concept of regional species pool to temporal, and investigated the seasonal dynamics of intertidal microbiomes across four microbial domains/kingdoms (bacteria, archaea, fungi, and protists).

Carbon-based catalysts doped with transition metals effectively activate persulfate for the advanced oxidation of endocrine disruptors in water. However, research on nickel-doped catalysts is limited, especially regarding non-radical mechanisms, and typically focuses on synthetic organic compounds rather than natural cellulose. This study used wheat straw cellulose to synthesize NiNx nanocluster catalysts (Ni-NC) via a one-step calcination method.

Norovirus (NoV) infection is a leading cause of gastroenteritis and poses global health threats, with increasing incidence reported in immunocompromised individuals, which is further exacerbated by the globalization of the food industry. Eumelanin has demonstrated its potential in antiviral treatments, but its role in preventing viral infections remains underexplored. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the antiviral properties and potential mechanisms of self-assembled eumelanin nanoparticles (EmNPs) against Tulane virus (TuV), a surrogate with a similar infection mechanism to NoVs.

Crystallinity and morphology are critical factors that closely related to the properties and applications of covalent organic frameworks (COFs). However, the controlled synthesis of COFs with both high crystallinity and uniform morphology remains a significant challenge due to uncontrollable polymerization and complex reaction conditions. In this work, we present a general acetal-protected aldehyde protocol for the facile synthesis of imine-linked COFs, which enables the simultaneous optimization of crystallinity and morphology.

The exploration of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for high-efficiency photocatalytic CO reduction is urgently demanded. Herein, COF-based catalysts are constructed for the selective photoreduction of CO to CO via delicately designed isomeric monomers with substituent at the 4,5,9,10- positions (K) or 1,3,6,8-positions (A) of pyrene knots. The distinct substituted regions significantly affect the planarity of pyrene knots, resulting in COFs with different microstructures and photocatalytic activities.

Background: Among erectile dysfunction (ED) caused by metabolic abnormalities, diabetes mellitus-induced ED (DMED) progresses rapidly, manifests with severe symptoms, and shows reduced responsiveness to conventional medications. Hyperglycemia in the corpus cavernosum has been linked to the induction of both ferroptosis and oxidative stress, which are mediated by nuclear factor E2 related factor 2 (Nrf2). Hesperidin (Hes), a flavonoid compound, has been revealed to activate Nrf2 in certain diabetic complications, yet the efficacy of Hes on DMED and the specific mechanism remain unclear.
