Therapeutic efficacy of solid tumor is often severely hampered by poor penetration of therapeutics into diseased tissues and lack of tumor targeting. In this study, the functionalized upconversion nanoparticles (UCNP)-based delivery vector targeting cancer cells was developed. Firstly, NaYF₄:Yb/Tm (UCNP) was prepared with the solvothermal method for the uniform nanoparticle size and brilliant lattice structure.

As a widely used first-line chemotherapy drug for tumor, Doxorubicin (DOX) can induce various side effects on normal tissues because of its non-specific distribution in the body. Emerging evidence has shown that platelets have the capability to recognize and interact with tumor cells. Inspired by this, the platelet-based drug delivery system was constructed by loading of DOX in platelet cytoplasm and modification of transferrin on the surface of platelet (Tf-P-DOX).

Article Synopsis
  • Testosterone levels in mouse Leydig cells decreased due to exposure to T-2 toxin, but the effects of l-arginine on this reduction were unclear.
  • Leydig cells were treated with various concentrations of l-arginine alongside T-2 toxin, leading to analysis of certain enzymes and proteins involved in testosterone production.
  • The study found that l-arginine not only boosted testosterone levels affected by T-2 toxin but also enhanced the expression and activity of key enzymes (P450scc, 3β-HSD-1, and StAR) involved in steroid hormone synthesis.
