Fatty acid and retinol binding proteins (FARs) are lipid-binding protein that may be associated with modulating nematode pathogenicity to their hosts. However, the functional mechanism of FARs remains elusive. We attempt to study the function of a certain FAR that may be important in the development of Nippostrongylus brasiliensis.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) reader insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 3 (IGF2BP3) suppresses ferroptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Here, we examined the effects and molecular determinants of IGF2BP3-mediated ferroptosis on malignant behaviors of HCC cells.

Recently, MSNs with large radial pores have attracted increased attention because their unique pore structure and large pore size are suitable for delivering large molecules such as proteins and genes. Upon entry into biological systems like the bloodstream, nanoparticles quickly form a 'protein corona,' leading to alterations in their interactions with immune cells.

CeO nanomaterials expose various crystal facets with distinct surface geometry, resulting in different surface reactivities and material behaviors that ultimately determine their performances and suitability for a wide range of applications. Here, we apply O solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to follow the facet transformation of CeO at increased temperatures, observing a transition from (100) to (110) and finally to the more stable (111), based on the characteristic NMR shifts associated with the unique surface structure of each facet. In addition, we explore the effects of Pt ions on the conversion of different facets, which are found to promote the formation of the thermally stable (111) facet.

Both Cu-1 and Cu-3 show a broad spectrum of cytotoxicity than Cu-2, and Cu-1 is more cytotoxic than Cu-3. What's interesting is that Cu-1 can exhibit obvious inhibitory effect on the growth of human triple-negative breast cancer in vivo and vitro through anti-proliferative, anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, pro-apoptotic and cuproptotic synergistic effects.

There is an urgent need to develop environmentally sustainable and technically viable solutions for water contamination caused by heavy metals. In this study, steel slag (SS) was used as a secondary resource to concurrently remove Fe(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) from AMD.

Over the past years, various commercial antibiotics have been used to treat MRSA infections. However, these commercial antibiotics have not yielded efficient results and also cause other side effects; therefore, there is a need for the development of effective alternatives to replace these commercial antibiotics.

Chromosomal karyotyping analysis has been considered as the gold standard for cytogenetic diagnosis and an effective measure for preventing birth defects. However, conventional karyotyping analysis relies heavily on manual recognition, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive. The application of an efficient intelligent chromosomal karyotyping precise auxiliary diagnosis system in clinical practice can significantly reduce the analysis time and greatly improve the efficiency, increase the detection rate for low-percentage mosaicisms, and promote homogenization between laboratories.

Background: Cesarean scar defect (CSD) is a potential complication following cesarean section (CS), which has significant clinical implications, and is usually clinically diagnosed by ultrasound. However, the optimal timing for ultrasound diagnosis of CSD after CS has not been well established. This study aimed to evaluate the appropriate time for the diagnosis of CSD after CS by ultrasonography.

This study analyzes the relationship between the public's perceived a community with shared future for doctor-patient (PCSF), health self-consciousness, benefit finding, and anxiety in this stage. Additionally, it compares changes in these variables across different stages of COVID-19.

Purpose: To measure the choroidal circulatory parameters Han Chinese children aged 4-14 years from Southwest China, and to explore the relationships between these parameters and age, axial length (AL), and choroidal thickness (ChT).
Methods: 284 eyes from 142 subjects were included in this cross-sectional study. All participants underwent cycloplegic refraction and IOLMaster500 examination.
Purpose: This study aimed to screen the genetic etiology for the high-risk families including those with an adverse pregnancy history, a history of consanguineous marriages, or a history of genetic diseases, but lack of proband via whole exome sequencing (WES).
Methods: 128 individuals from high-risk family were tested by WES. The candidate variants were analyzed according to the ACMG criteria to screen the potential carriers.
The effect of metallic elements on semen quality remains controversial, with limited evidence on the effects of metal mixtures. We conducted a study involving 338 participants from multiple centers in Eastern China, measuring 17 urinary metals and semen quality parameters. Our analysis used various statistical models, including multivariate logistic and linear regression, Bayesian Kernel Machine Regression, and weighted quantile sum models, to examine the associations between metal levels and semen quality.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) can deliver various bioactive molecules among cells, making them promising diagnostic and therapeutic alternatives in diseases. Mesenchymal stem cell-derived EVs (MSC-EVs) have shown therapeutic potential similar to MSCs but with drawbacks such as lower yield, reduced biological activities, off-target effects, and shorter half-lives. Improving strategies utilizing biotechniques to pretreat MSCs and enhance the properties of released EVs, as well as modifying MSC-EVs to enhance targeting abilities and achieve controlled release, shows potential for overcoming application limitations and enhancing therapeutic effects in treating bone-related diseases.
