We theoretically present a flexible method to obtain dual-channel optical bistability (OB) in a coupled system consisting of a metallic nanoshell (MNS) and a carbon nanotube (CNT) nanomechanical resonator (NR) beyond the dipole approximation. The MNS is made of a metallic core and a dielectric shell. The results show that, the four-wave mixing signal is suppressed significantly due to multipole polarizations in comparison to that in the dipole approximation.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the effectiveness of combining first-line immunotherapy with chemotherapy for patients with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), focusing on those with and without brain metastases.
  • A review of seven randomized controlled trials found that patients without brain metastases experienced significant improvements in both progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) when receiving the combination treatment compared to chemotherapy alone.
  • In contrast, patients with brain metastases showed no significant benefits in PFS or OS from the addition of immunotherapy to their chemotherapy regimen.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the impact of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) on patients with pIIIA-N2 non-small cell lung cancer following surgery and chemotherapy.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from three high-quality randomized control trials involving 902 patients, comparing the effects of PORT with observation.
  • - Findings indicated that while PORT significantly reduced local recurrence rates, it had no significant effect on disease-free survival (DFS) or overall survival (OS).

The main purpose of the National Nutrition and Health Systematic Survey for children 0-17 years of age in China (CNHSC) was to collect basic data on the nutrition, development, and health status for children in different regions across China using evidence-based, reliable, and cost-effective approaches. Children and their parents or guardians from seven regions (south, southwest, north, northwest, eastern, central, and northeast China) in China were recruited. A multi-stage stratified randomized sampling method was used.

Objective: This study aimed to understand the characteristics of dietary patterns among children aged 12 to 23 months and discusses the relationship between dietary patterns and the growth of children.

Method: Cross-sectional data were selected from the National Nutrition and Health Systematic Survey for 0 to 18 year-old children in China ( = 2,449) to describe the patterns of complementary feeding and the growth of children. Cluster analysis was used to analyze complementary feeding patterns, and an analysis of variance and Bonferroni test were conducted to analyze the relationship between scores and complementary feeding patterns.

Objective: This study aims to explore trends in sedentary behavior among Chinese children aged 6-17 years per demographic and social characteristics.

Methods: A total of 4,341 children aged 6-17 years who participated in the from 2004 to 2015 were included. Repeated measures from mixed-effects models were applied to test trends in sedentary behaviors, which were further analyzed after applying stratification according to gender, age, urbanization level, residential area, and region.

Objective: This study was aimed at examining the trends and correlates of physical activity (PA) and sedentary behaviors among Chinese children.

Methods: A total of 4,341 subjects (6,936 observations) aged 6-17 years who participated in the China Health and Nutrition Survey (2004-2015) were included. Of the subjects, 41% participated in the survey twice or more.

Aimed to explore the trends in physical activity among Chinese children, data of 4,341 children aged 6-17 years who participated in at least one round of "China Health and Nutrition Survey" from 2004 to 2015 were analyzed. Repeated measures mixed models were applied to test the trends in physical activity, which were further analyzed after applying stratification on gender, age, urbanization level, residential area and region. The volume of total physical activity in Chinese children aged 6-17 years showed a downward trend from 2004 to 2015, especially among children residing in medium and high urbanization communities, the south and urban areas of China, so that more efforts need to be put to promote their physical activity.

  • * Researchers found significant variation in soil selenium concentrations across different districts, with certain low (Quartile 1) and high (Quartile 4) selenium groups showing increased diabetes risk compared to a mid-range group (Quartile 2).
  • * The results suggest that excessive selenium in soil may raise diabetes risk, highlighting the need to consider environmental factors in health assessments for Chinese adults.

This study aims to determine whether miR-1271-5p inhibits cell proliferation and enhances the radiosensitivity by targeting cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Its expression levels in the HCC cell lines were significantly lower than those in normal human liver cell line. Bioinformatics analysis indicated CDK1 was a potential target of miR-1271-5p.

Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a gestational complication that affects maternal and child health. The placenta provides the fetus with the necessary nutrition and oxygen and takes away the metabolic waste. Patients with GDM are diagnosed and treated merely on the basis of the blood glucose level; this approach does nothing to help evaluate the status of the placenta, which is worth noting in GDM.

The ginger extract obtained with supercritical CO fluid was purified by molecular distillation (MD), and the chemical compositions, antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of ginger extract and its distillates were investigated. Analysis revealed that the ginger extract was rich in terpene hydrocarbons, along with oxygenated terpenes and other non-volatile compounds. The MD distillates were prepared in a series of stages and the active compounds like terpenes and gingerols could be separated by MD.
