Analysis of the singing voice handicap index for elderly choristers.

Purpose: To analyze the singing voice handicap index in elderly choristers and verify its relationship with the profile, habits and health conditions of the participants.

Methods: 110 individuals aged 60 years or older, participating in amateur choirs, were included. Choir singers were interviewed in order to verify data such as age, time in choir singing, vocal classification, and the presence of habits and health conditions adverse to voice production.

Tobacco Influence on Taste and Smell: Systematic Review of the Literature.

 In Brazil, estimates show that 14.7% of the adult population smokes, and changes in smell and taste arising from tobacco consumption are largely present in this population, which is an aggravating factor to these dysfunctions.  The objective of this study is to systematically review the findings in the literature about the influence of smoking on smell and taste.
