The objective was to investigate the effects of calcium and rumen buffer sources on lactational performance, ruminal fermentation, enteric gas emissions, apparent total-tract digestibility of nutrients, and blood variables of lactating dairy cows. A replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design experiment was conducted with 9 primi- and 9 multiparous mid-lactation Holstein cows. Cows were fed the same basal diet, except for the inclusion (as % DMI) of the following minerals: (1) CON, 0.

The objective of this research is to determine the efficacy of early subcutaneous insulin glargine on time to resolution of ketoacidosis in children with moderate to severe DKA.
Methods: This retrospective chart review evaluated children age 2 to 21 years old admitted for moderate to severe DKA who received insulin glargine within 6 hours of hospital admission (early insulin glargine) compared with those who received insulin glargine greater than 6 hours from admission (late insulin glargine).

She was transferred to our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for ongoing mechanical ventilation and initiation of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) for management of progressive hypoxic respiratory failure. She developed a worsening cough with associated life-threatening desaturation events that impaired ECMO flow and required deep sedation.

Our objective was to investigate the effects of essential oils (EO) extracts star anise (), citronella (), clove bud (), staigeriana eucalyptus (), globulus eucalyptus (), ginger (), ho wood (), melaleuca (), oregano () and white thyme () on in vitro methane emissions from four rumen-cannulated Nellore cattle grazing a tropical grass pasture as inoculum donors. The semi-automated gas production technique was used to assess total gas production, dry matter degradability, partitioning factor, ammoniacal nitrogen, short-chain fatty acids and methane production.

Following a 1-wk adaptation period, 12 multiparous Holstein cows were fed a basal total mixed ration (TMR) containing increasing levels of 3-NOP during 5 consecutive, 6-d periods. The experiment was conducted in a tiestall barn.

However, not all CTs from fodder legumes are bioactive due to their wide structural diversity. The aim of our study was to investigate the effect of 10 CT-containing plants , , , , , , , , and ) on in vitro fermentation kinetics of Nelore beef cattle.

The use of condensed tannins (CT) as a natural feed additive to modulate ruminal archaea can mitigate the methane emissions from cattle in tropical systems. We investigated the effects of CT on in vivo methane emissions and rumen microbiota ecology in beef cattle.

The study was conducted with 49 multiparous Holstein cows in a randomized complete block design in 2 phases; phase 1 was with 28 cows, and phase 2 with 21 cows. Cows were fed a basal total mixed ration ad libitum and were blocked based on days in milk, milk yield, and enteric methane emissions during a 14-d covariate period.

However, many pharmacy positions go vacant each year, with the majority of these positions existing in rural areas. Pharmacy students completed a one-time, anonymous, online questionnaire.

Twenty Holstein cows with an average of 162 ± 70 d in milk, 666 ± 7 kg of body weight, and 36 ± 7.8 kg/d of milk yield (MY) were distributed in a Latin square design with 5 contemporaneous balanced squares, 4 periods of 21 d, and 4 treatments (factorial arrangement 2 × 2).

This work highlights important steps toward the efficient coupling of high-performance hematite photoanodes with multijunction thin-film silicon photocathodes providing high bias-free photocurrent density. The hybrid PEC-WS device is optimized by testing three types of multijunction silicon photocathodes with the hematite photoanode: amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) tandem: a-Si:H/a-Si:H and triple junction with microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H): a-Si:H/a-Si:H/μc-Si:H and a-Si:H/μc-Si:H/μc-Si:H.
