Although the ankle is often involved in low energy trauma, high-energy trauma may occur, being this considered more serious and more common of affecting young and active men. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate and compare the functionality, pain and quality of life of active and inactive adult individuals whose ankle fracture was surgically treated. Seventy-six patients split into two groups (active, n = 58 X inactive, n = 18), of the men (active, n = 38; inactive, n = 9) and women (active, n = 20; inactive, n = 9) gender participated in this prospective study.

Therefore, the objective of this study was to synthesize the evidence on the effects of aquatic exercise on lung function and quality of life in asthmatic patients.
Data Sources: A systematic search encompassing the Medline, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, Embase, AMED, SPORTDiscus, and Physiotherapy Evidence Database databases was conducted to identify randomized controlled trials assessing the impact of aquatic exercise in comparison to control conditions or land-based exercise on lung function and quality of life in individuals diagnosed with asthma.
This study examined the impact of diabetes over time. The sample included 68 people with diabetes used a three-year longitudinal design to test a model of functional decline. Indicators of the body function and activity and participation components of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) were derived from the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire, World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief version (WHOQOL-BREF), and Participation Scale.

We have developed an electrochemical system that performs electrical work due to changes in alkaline ion and proton activities associated with acidic solution neutralization. This system can be used to treat wastewater, contributing to sustainable growth. The system includes an electrochemical machine that operates between an acidic and a basic reservoir to produce work in cycles comprising four stages: two isothermal ionic insertion/de-insertion steps and two steps involving acid and base injection.

The amount of phosphorus (P) in each liquid medium was quantified, and an indirect assessment of acid phosphatase activity was performed. All assays had a fully randomized design, with three repetitions.

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the impact of hydrotherapy on pain, function, and muscle function in older women with knee osteoarthritis.
Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of hydrotherapy in women with knee osteoarthritis.
Context: Ankle fractures (AFs) are the most common fractures of the lower limbs found in emergency services. Approximately 53% of these fractures are unstable and treated surgically.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review evaluating functional outcomes and quality of life of patients with AFs surgically treated.
Some industries usually reduce the concentration of protons in acidic wastewater by conducting neutralization reactions and/or adding seawater to industrial effluents. This work proposes a novel electrochemical system that can harvest energy originating from entropic changes due to alteration in the concentration of sodium ions along wastewater treatment. Preparation of a self-assembled material from nickel Prussian blue analogue (NPBA) was the first step to obtain such electrochemical system.

The aim of the study was to analyze the concentrations of sTNFR1 and sTNFR2 in both plasma and synovial fluid of patients with primary knee osteoarthritis (OA) and to determine their relationship to self-reported pain, stiffness and physical function. Twenty-seven patients with knee OA and 19 healthy subjects were enrolled in the study. The Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index questionnaire was used to evaluate self-reported physical function, pain and stiffness.

Twenty-seven patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) and 19 healthy subjects were enrolled in the study. Anteroposterior knee radiographs were taken to determine the disease severity of the affected knee.

In this situation, it is possible to obtain electrochemical energy after the complete charge/discharge cycle conducted in electrolytic solutions with different proton concentrations. To this end, we prepared modified electrodes from phosphomolybdic acid (PMA), poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene/poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT-PSS), and polyallylamine (PAH) by the layer-by-layer (LbL) method and investigated their electrochemical behavior, aiming to use them in these neutralization pseudocapacitors.

The alleviation of the symptoms associated with this disease can be achieved with physical exercise that induces a cascade of molecular and cellular processes. Of the neurotrophins, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) appears to be the most affected by physical activity.

These patients underwent aerobic treatment through the use of physical exercises. The study consisted of a longitudinal analysis of older individuals presenting clinical and radiographic diagnosis of knee OA that were submitted to 12 weeks of aerobic treatment.

Objectives: To evaluate the impact of a structured aquatic and a non-aquatic exercise program for lower-limb muscle endurance on the static and dynamic balance of elderly people.
