Background: The clinical prognosis assessment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) still relies on nuclear grading and nuclear score by naked eye with microscope, which has defects long time, low efficiency, and uneven evaluation level criteria. There are few machine learning (ML) studies investigating the prognosis in the RCC literature which could also quantify the risk of postoperative recurrence of RCC patients and guide cancer patients to conduct individualized postoperative clinical management. This study evaluated the suitability of ML algorithms for survival prediction in patients with RCC.

Hypothesis: Nomogram can be built to predict the pathological T3a upstaging from clinical T1a in patients with localized renal cell carcinoma before surgery.

Purpose: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients with clinical T1a (cT1a) disease who are upstaged to pathological T3a (pT3a) have reduced survivals after partial nephrectomy. We aimed to develop a nomogram-based model predicting pT3a upstaging in RCC patients with preoperative cT1a based on multiple preoperative blood indexes and oncological characteristics.

Background: The burden of depression in the elderly is increasing worldwide with global aging. However, there is still a lack of research on the relationship between depressive symptoms and the progression of renal function. Our aim is to evaluate the longitudinal association between baseline depressive symptoms and the changes in serum cystatin C levels over 10 years' follow-up period.

Purpose: Translocation renal cell carcinoma (tRCC) is a subtype that occurs predominantly in children and young individuals. Metastatic tRCC occurring in young patients is more aggressive than that occurring in older patients, and there are still no effective therapies. Organoids can mimic original tissues and be assessed by high-throughput screening (HTS).

Background: Testicular sex cord stromal tumours (TSCSTs) are rare, with few studies focusing on the metastatic TSCST prognosis. The value of treatments, including radical orchiectomy (RO) and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND), in preventing metastasis is controversial. Additionally, metastatic TSCSTs are resistant to chemotherapy.

Background: Non-metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with tumor thrombus showed a greater tendency for developing metastases after surgery. Early identification of patients with high risk of poor prognosis is especially important to explore adjuvant treatment of improving outcomes. Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was a systemic inflammation marker and outcome predictor in RCC, reflecting the chaos in systemic immune status in cancer as myeloid cell expansion and lymphatic cell suppression.

Purpose: Reduced quality of life after cystectomy has made bladder preservation a popular research topic for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC). Previous research has indicated significant tumor downstaging after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). However, maximal transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) was performed before NAC to define the pathology, impacting the real evaluation of NAC.

Article Synopsis
  • Tumours disrupt the immune response, impairing lymphocyte function even as they are mobilized in response to the cancer.
  • This study examined the T-cell receptor β-chain (TCRB) diversity in 45 renal cell carcinoma patients, finding that higher TCRB diversity was associated with better prognosis and a healthier immune environment.
  • Post-surgery, patients showed restored TCRB diversity and reduced T-cell exhaustion, suggesting that surgical intervention may enhance opportunities for immunotherapy.

Most renal cell carcinoma (RCC) patients die from metastasis or recurrence after the spread of cancer to another organ, but the mechanisms underlying the intravascular survival of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have not been completely deciphered. Additionally, although elevated plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and thrombocytosis are strongly correlated and both indicate a poor prognosis for RCC patients, the bridge connecting inflammation and coagulation remains poorly understood. To explore the complicated relationship among inflammation, the coagulation system and CTC survival, we obtained viable CTC counts and clinical information from 106 treatment-naïve patients.
