[n]Peri-acenes ([n]PA) have attracted great interest as promising candidates for nanoelectronics and spintronics. However, the synthesis of large [n]PA (n > 4) is extremely challenging due to their intrinsic open-shell radical character and high reactivity. Herein, we report the successful synthesis and isolation of a derivative (1) of peri-hexacene in crystalline form.

High-spin polycyclic hydrocarbons (PHs) hold significant potential in organic spintronics and organic magnets. However, their synthesis is very challenging due to their extremely high reactivity. Herein, we report the successful synthesis and isolation of a kinetically blocked derivative (1) of dianthraceno[2,3-a : 3',2'-h]-s-indacene, which represents a rare persistent triplet diradical of a Kekulé PH.

High-spin organic radicals are notable for their unique optical, electronic, and magnetic properties, but synthesizing stable high-spin systems is challenging due to their inherent reactivity. This study presents a novel strategy for designing stable high-spin polycyclic hydrocarbons (PHs) by incorporating allylic radical into fused aromatic benzenoid rings. To enhance stability, large steric hindrance groups with a synergistic captodative effect were added to the allylic radical centers.

Background: Metastasis is the major problem of colorectal cancer (CRC) and is correlated with the high mortality. Tumor necrosis factor-like cytokine 1A (TL1A) is a novel regulatory factor for inflammatory diseases. This work aimed to investigate the role of TL1A in CRC metastasis.

Motivated by the clinical success of combining tyrosine kinase inhibitors with microtubule-targeted drugs in antitumor treatment, this paper presents a novel combi-targeting design for dual-target inhibitors, featuring arylformylurea-coupled quinazoline backbones. A series of target compounds (10a-10r) were designed, synthesized, and characterized. Biological assessments demonstrated that 10c notably potentiated ten tumor cell lines in vitro, with IC values ranging from 1.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on the effectiveness of using a combined blood purification method (haemoperfusion + continuous venovenous haemodiafiltration) to treat children with severe viral encephalitis, while also examining cerebrospinal fluid neopterin levels as a prognostic indicator.
  • Researchers compared treatment outcomes among three groups of children: those receiving combined treatment, those receiving only CVVHDF, and those with mild encephalitis not treated with blood purification.
  • Results showed that while there was no significant difference in some clinical outcomes, higher CSF neopterin levels were linked to more severe brain lesions and poorer motor functions, suggesting the potential for this blood purification method to improve treatment in severe cases

Background: Recent studies have emphasized the emerging importance of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the functions and regulatory mechanisms of numerous lncRNAs in CRC have not been fully elucidated.

Aim: To explore the functional role and underlying molecular mechanisms of lncRNA TNFRSF10A-AS1 in CRC.

Background: Colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) is a serious complication of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). microRNA-320 (miRNA-320) promotes intestinal mucosal barrier repair in IBD and inhibits tumor progression. However, the role of miRNA-320 in the progression of CAC remains to be defined.

DNA methylation is an important epigenetic modification that affects genomic instability and regulates gene expression. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) modulate gene expression by interacting with chromosomal modifications or remodelling factors. It is urgently needed to evaluate the effects of DNA methylation-related lncRNAs (DMlncRNAs) on genome instability and further investigate the mechanism of action of DMlncRNAs in mediating the progression of lower-grade gliomas (LGGs) and their impact on the immune microenvironment.

Background: To investigate the psychological characteristics of patients with suspected coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during isolation and to evaluate the effects of psychological nursing interventions.

Methods: A total of 137 patients with suspected COVID-19 were assessed using the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ). Psychological nursing intervention measures were implemented, after which the patients were re-evaluated.

Objective: The role of TL1A in the intestinal mucosa barrier in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is still unclear. This study was aimed to investigate the expression levels of tight junction protein (TJ), myosin light chain kinase (MLCK), MyD88 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-associated factor-6 (TRAF6) and how TL1A influences the intestinal barrier in IBD.

Methods: The mouse models of IBD were built using FMS-TL1A-GFP-transgenic mice and wild-type mice.

Background: Tumor necrosis factor ligand-related molecule 1 A (TLlA) is closely related to the occurrence and development of inflammatory bowel disease.

Aims: We aimed to explore whether TLlA was involved in the occurrence of colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC).

Methods: Firstly, azoxymethane (AOM) and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) were used to construct the CAC mice model in wild-type (WT) and TL1A transgenic (Tg) mice with TL1A high expression.

The aim of this study was to observe the efficacy of clarithromycin-based triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori (Hp)-infected duodenal ulcer when combined with different pH levels of gastric juices. A total of 160 patients with Hp-infected duodenal ulcers were randomly allocated into two groups. Patients in the treatment group (n=80) were administered a 20-mg dose of omeprazole twice daily for 1 week and then the treatment and control groups (n=80) received therapy for Hp infection and duodenal ulcers.

Polymorphisms in cytokine genes may contribute to increased susceptibility to different cancers. The aim of this paper is to investigate the association of IL-8-251A/T polymorphism and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection with the risk of developing gastric cardiac adenocarcinoma (GCA) in the south of Taihang Mountain, a high-incidence area of esophageal cancer in China.

Lymphoepithelioma is well known in the nasopharyngeal region. Although this neoplasm is well described in a variety of extranasal sites, where it is termed lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma, this is only the second report of this neoplasm originating in the vulva reported in the literature. These lesions are reported to be less aggressive in extranasal sites.
