HS as the third gasotransmitter is an important endogenous bioregulator that shows various therapeutic potentials. Herein, we present a novel thiocoumarin-based self-reporting sulfide prodrug strategy that utilizes esterase-mediated hydrolysis of thionoesters to release HS and provide real-time fluorescence monitoring. Our key discovery is that thionoesters can be hydrolyzed by esterases to release HS under physiological conditions, providing ample opportunities to design prodrugs based on ester-containing molecules.

Background: Narrative pedagogy has been developed for over a decade, and while studies confirm that it can stimulate student interest, foster empathy, and enhance the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills in nursing care, there is still insufficient evidence to recommend its widespread adoption.
Methods: In November 2024, a comprehensive search was conducted across databases including PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, OVID, Scopus, PsychInfo, CNKI, Wanfang Data, Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP) and China Biology Medicine disc (CBM) to identify studies that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Crosslinking amine-rich biomolecules with aldehydes, such as paraformaldehyde (PFA) and glutaraldehyde (GA), is a widely used method for biomaterial fabrication and cell fixation. In this study, we introduce homobifunctional photocaged 2-butene-1,4-dials (bis-PBDAs) as novel amine-reactive photo-crosslinkers. Compared to PFA and GA, bis-PBDAs are inherently less toxic.

The use of echocardiography may improve assessment and treatment, but its reference values across gestational age (GA) and birth weight (BW) are lacking. To address the information gap, this study aimed at correlating GA and BW of newborns with nonhemodynamic abnormalities, and at evaluating the usefulness of such reference values in neonates with early onset septic (EOS) -shock.

However, the impact of soil hydrological conditions on wetland microorganisms is not well understood. This study investigated the effects of wetted state (WS); wetting-drying state (WDS); and dried state (DS) on the diversity of soil bacteria, fungi, and archaea.

Laser processing of implant surfaces has demonstrated significant potential due to its precision, controllability, and environmental friendliness. Femtosecond lasers, through precise optimization of processing parameters, can modify the surface of any solid material to generate micro- and nanomorphologies of varying scales and roughness.

Since its inception in 1961, cochlear implantation has expanded its range of applications to encompass younger newborns, older people, and individuals with unilateral hearing loss. In addition, it has improved its surgical methods to minimize the occurrence of complications.

EMZL is derived from post-germinal center marginal zone B cells and typically lacks bcl-6 expression. Herein, we report two post-treatment cases of EMZL where unexpected bcl-6 protein expression was observed in specimens obtained following recurrence or progression.

Although many studies considered inflammation to be a major contributor to noise-induced hearing loss, the process of cochlear inflammation is still unclear. Studies have found that activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway results in the accumulation of macrophages in the inner ear plays an important role in hair cell damage.

By constructing free-standing films, the deformation and response properties of these hydrogels can be further enhanced, and visualized deformation can be achieved. However, DNA hydrogels that can exhibit rapid and high-degree shape deformations, such as the inverse shape deformations, are still lacking.

Moreover, prolonged noise stimuli in hospitalized neonates can disrupt neonatal development.
Objective: The aim of the study is to conduct a nationwide, multicenter, large-sample cross-sectional survey to identify current practices and investigate the decision-making requirements of health care providers regarding ECG alarms.
Background: Cochlear implants have helped over one million individuals restore functional hearing globally, but their clinical utility in suppressing tinnitus has not been firmly established.
Methods: In a decade-long study, we examined longitudinal effects of cochlear implants on tinnitus in 323 post-lingually deafened individuals including 211 with pre-existing tinnitus and 112 without tinnitus. The primary endpoints were tinnitus loudness and tinnitus handicap inventory.
Repeated low-intensity noise exposure is prevalent in industrialized societies. It has long been considered risk-free until recent evidence suggests that the temporary threshold shift (TTS) induced by such exposure might be a high-risk factor for hearing loss. This study was conducted to further investigate the manner in which repeated low-intensity noise exposure contributed to hearing damage.

Achieving visual detection of analytes at ultra-low concentrations in complex mixtures remains a persistent challenge. While sophisticated techniques offer single-molecule sensitivity, practical hurdles remain, necessitating tailored signal amplification systems for direct visual detection. In this study, we develop a strategy for the visualized detection of tetrazine through a "click-release-oxidation-cycle" (CROC) cascade amplification process.

However, it remains a challenge to simultaneously retain their biological functions while protecting these fragile oligonucleotides from the degradation by nucleases abundant in biological circumstances. Herein, a smart delivery system for functional DNA payloads is developed based on proton-mediated dynamic nestling of cytosine-rich DNA moieties within the precisely size-matched nanochannels of highly crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs): At neutral pH, cytosine-rich DNA strands exhibit a flexible single-stranded state and can be accommodated by MOFs nanochannels with a size of ca.

The live attenuated yellow fever vaccine (YF17D) has caused controversial safety issues in history with low-yield problems, which has led to a large population being unable to be vaccinated and vaccine shortage in facing recent outbreaks. Here, we report a safer live attenuated vaccine candidate, YF17D-Δ77, which contains 77 nucleotides deletion in the 3' untranslated region (3' UTR) of the YF17D genome. YF17D-Δ77 exhibited no neurotropism and decreased viscerotropism and caused significantly lower lethality in mice compared to YF17D.
