Background: The best tool for the management of pain associated with distal symmetric peripheral neuropathy (DSPN) is a matter of debate. Therefore, the study aimed to explore whether ultrasound-guided pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) therapy of the stellate ganglion (SG) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with painful DSPN could decrease pain severity and the need for analgesics.

Methods: Fifty-six T2DM patients with refractory painful DSPN were enrolled in this study, who then received bilateral ultrasound-guided PRF therapy of SG.

The application of As-Se chalcogenide glasses in high-power laser delivery is hindered by their low damage threshold due to their weak chemical bonds. To solve this, we introduced germanium elements into the As-Se glasses and optimized the composition to raise the glass transition temperature (T) and enhance the laser damage threshold (LDT). From the correlation among various parameters including T, LDT, and fiber loss, we concluded an optimized composition of GeAsSe/GeAsSe glass.

Digital holography can reconstruct the amplitude and phase information of the target light field. However, the reconstruction quality is largely limited by the size of the hologram. Multi-plane holograms can impose constraints for reconstruction, yet the quality of the reconstructed images continues to be restricted owing to the deficiency of effective prior information constraints.

Filter pruning has achieved remarkable success in reducing memory consumption and speeding up inference for convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Some prior works, such as heuristic methods, attempted to search for suitable sparse structures during the pruning process, which may be expensive and time-consuming. In this paper, an efficient cross-layer importance evaluation (CIE) method is proposed to automatically calculate proportional relationships among convolutional layers.

Aiming at the problem that ultra-wide band (UWB) cannot be accurately localized in environments with large noise variations and unknown statistical properties, a combinatorial localization method based on improved cubature (CKF) is proposed. First, in order to overcome the problem of inaccurate local approximation or even the inability to converge due to the initial value not being set near the optimal solution in the process of solving the UWB position by the least-squares method, the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm (L-M) is adopted to optimally solve the UWB position. Secondly, because UWB and IMU information are centrally fused, an adaptive factor is introduced to update the measurement noise covariance matrix in real time to update the observation noise, and the fading factor is added to suppress the filtering divergence to achieve an improvement for the traditional CKF algorithm.

Deploying Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based applications to mobile platforms can be challenging due to the conflict between the restricted computing capacity of mobile devices and the heavy computational overhead of running a CNN. Network quantization is a promising way of alleviating this problem. However, network quantization can result in accuracy degradation and this is especially the case with the compact CNN architectures that are designed for mobile applications.
