Objectives: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a rare tumor with a poor prognosis and poses significant therapeutic challenges. Herein, we investigated the mechanism of efficacy of I seed implantation therapy in CCA, focusing on the induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated apoptosis and the involvement of glutathione peroxidase 2 (GPX2).
Materials And Methods: Human cholangiocarcinoma cell lines QBC939 and RBE were purchased for in vitro studies.
Background: Liver cancer has a high incidence and mortality rate worldwide, and there is an urgent need to identify new therapeutic strategies and predictive targets to improve the clinical outcomes of advanced liver cancer. Ferroptosis holds promise as a novel strategy for cancer therapy. Epigenetic dysregulation is a hallmark of cancer, and noncoding RNAs are tightly involved in cell fate determination.

However, their association with HCC is still unclear. In this study, lncRNAs related to m1A were extracted from the mRNA expression matrix in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

However, there are currently no strong lines of evidence for the prognosis following MWA treatment for HCC in the elderly. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review to assess the safety and feasibility of MWA for HCC in elderly patients.

N-methyladenosine (m6A) modification of mRNAs is involved in multiple essential biological processes, dynamically regulated by m6A "writers", "erasers", and "readers". Yet, the detailed functional roles of RNA m6A reader proteins, such as YTHDFs, are largely unknown. Herein we show that YTHDF1 promotes pro-inflammatory IL-1β production in macrophages during bacterial infections.

Methods: The expression levels of cancer hallmarks were determined by Cox regression analysis.
Background: Fungus-growing termites (Termitidae: Macrotermitinae) are common forest and agriculture pests. To evaluate the efficacy of termite baiting in suppressing field population of fungus-growing termites, a durable termite bait with hexaflumuron was evenly installed in a one-hectare forest area dominated by a fungus-growing termite, Odontotermes formosanus (Shiraki). Monthly monitoring of termite foraging activity on baits and wood stakes was conducted for 4 years to quantify efficacy of baits.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the common malignant tumors in China, with a high morbidity and mortality. With the development and application of high-throughput sequencing technologies and metagenomics, a great quantity of studies have shown that gastrointestinal microbiota is closely related to digestive system diseases. Although some studies have reported the effect of long-term follow-up after subtotal gastrectomy on intestinal flora changes in patients with GC.

Termite foraging behavior and the entry of symbiotic arthropod inquilines may transfer nematodes into a nest and adversely affect fungus production. To test whether nematodes were transferred to fungus gardens by termites and inquilines, we examined the occurrence of nematodes in fungus gardens, five termite castes, and nine species of inquilines of a fungus-growing termite, Odontotermes formosanus.

A new species of rove beetle belonging to Zyras (Diaulaconia) is found to be associated with the fungus-growing termite, Odontotermes formosanus (Shiraki, 1909), and is showing meticulous predatory behavior. In the present study, this species is described as Zyras (Diaulaconia) artemis Liang, Maruyama & Li, sp.

Case Description: We present a case of CBS with a rupture of the internal carotid artery (ICA) pseudo-aneurysm after Gamma Knife radiation therapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
Field collections and rearing have established the first species-level associations for larvae of Pyrochroidae from Taiwan. Larvae of Pseudopyrochroa carinifrons and Pseudopyrochroa fainanensis were collected from beneath bark and in coarse, decaying woody debris of dead logs and successfully reared to the respective adult stages. The mature larvae are described and salient features are illustrated.
