Association of biological aging with prostate cancer: insights from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

The link between biological aging and prostate cancer (PCa) risk, particularly as indicated by elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, remains uncertain. This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2001-2010) to explore this association. Biological age was assessed using Klemera-Doubal method age (KDMAge) and phenotypic age (PhenoAge).

[Causal association between depression and stress urinary incontinence: A two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization study].

Objective: To investigate the causal correlation between depression and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Methods: We searched the FinnGen Consortium database for genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on depression and obtained 23 424 case samples and 192 220 control samples, with the GWAS data on SUI provided by the UK Biobank, including 4 340 case samples and 458 670 control samples. We investigated the correlation between depression and SUI based on the depression data collected from the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC).

[Analysis of 10 years' data of systematic male reproductive system ultrasonography in diagnosis of azoospermia etiology].

Objective: To explore the value of systematic male reproductive system ultrasonography in the diagnosis of azoospermia etiology.

Methods: Retrospective analysis and classification statistics were conducted on the data of azoospermia cases who underwent systematic male reproductive system ultrasound examination at the First Affiliated Hospital of Ningbo University from January 2013 to January 2023.

Results: A total of 375 cases were included in the group, of which 303 cases could be diagnosed by ultrasound, including 161 cases of obstructive causes, 110 cases of non obstructive causes, and 32 cases of mixed causes.

Sinularin, a natural product that purified from soft coral, exhibits anti-tumor effects against various human cancers. However, the mechanisms are not well understood. In this study, we demonstrated that Sinularin inhibited the viability of human prostate cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner and displayed significant cytotoxicity only at high concentration against normal prostate epithelial cell RWPE-1.

Exploring the digesta- and mucosa-associated microbial community dynamics in the rumen and hindgut of goats from birth to adult.

Recently, the relationship between the goat host and its gastrointestinal microbiome has emerged as a hallmark of host-microbiota symbiosis, which was indispensable for the proper physiological function that convert the plant biomass to livestock products. However, little integrative information about the establishment of gastrointestinal microflora in goats exists. Herein, we characterized the colonizing process of the bacterial community in the digesta and mucosa of the rumen, cecum, and colon of the cashmere goat from birth to adulthood to compare its spatiotemporal difference via 16S rRNA gene sequencing.

Complete genome sequence of a novel mycovirus from Pleurotus citrinopileatus.

The complete genome sequence of a novel single-stranded [+ ssRNA] positive-sense (+) RNA mycovirus, designated as "Pleurotus citrinopileatus ourmiavirus 1" (PcOV1), isolated from Pleurotus citrinopileatus strain CCMJ2141, was determined. The complete genome of PcOV1 is composed of 2,535 nucleotides. It contains a single open reading frame (ORF), which encodes a protein of 657 amino acids (aa) containing conserved domains of an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp).

Molecular characterization of a novel fusarivirus infecting the edible fungus Auricularia heimuer.

Here, we describe a novel mycovirus, Auricularia heimuer fusarivirus 1 (AhFV1), isolated from the edible fungus Auricularia heimuer strain CCMJ1296. The virus has a single-stranded positive-sense [+ssRNA] genome of 7,127 nucleotides containing two overlapping open reading frames (ORFs) and a poly(A) tail. The large ORF1 encodes a polyprotein of 1,637 amino acids (aa) with conserved RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) and DEAD-like helicase superfamily (DEXDc) domains.

Molecular characteristics of a novel ssRNA virus isolated from Auricularia heimuer in China.

A novel positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus was isolated from strain CCMJ1271 of the fungus Auricularia heimuer, and the complete genome sequence of the virus was determined. Database searching, sequence alignment, and phylogenetic analysis revealed that this fungal virus and some viruses of family Virgaviridae clustered into a single branch of a phylogenetic tree, and we thus tentatively named the virus "Auricularia heimuer mycovirgavirus 1" (AhMV1). The AhMV1 genome consists of 9,934 nucleotides and contains a short poly(A) tail and three open reading frames (ORFs).

[A new procedure of penoplasty for concealed penis reduces postoperative preputial edema].

Objective: To investigate the advantage of a new procedure of penoplasty by T-shaped incision and three-point fixation (TSI+TPF) in reducing postoperative preputial edema in the treatment of concealed penis.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 244 cases of concealed penis treated in our center between June 2014 and June 2017, 185 by TSI+TPF penoplasty and the other 59 by modified Devine surgery (MDS). We compared the incidence of postoperative preputial edema between the two groups of patients.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common malignancy among males worldwide, and is one of the leading causes of cancer‑related mortality. MicroRNAs (miRs) are a type of endogenous, noncoding RNA that serve a key role in pathological processes, and have been demonstrated to be involved in the formation and progression of PCa. Previous studies have reported that miR‑106b acts as an oncogene; however, the specific effects of miR‑106b on PCa have not been fully elucidated.

[Penoplasty with T-shaped incision and three-point fixation for concealed penis].

Objective: To search for a safe and effective method of penoplasty with low incidence of complications for concealed penis by evaluating penoplasty with T-shaped incision and three-point fixation in comparison with modified Devine's technique.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 169 cases of concealed penis treated in our center by penoplasty with T-shaped incision and three-point fixation (group A, n = 110) or modified Devine's surgery (group B, n = 59). We compared the operation time, postoperative complications, and recurrence rate between the two groups of patients.

[Etiological factors for calculus-associated seminal vesiculitis: Analysis of calculus composition in 6 cases].

Objective: To explore the etiological factors for calculus-associated seminal vesiculitis by analyzing the composition of seminal vesicle calculus samples.

Methods: This retrospective study included 6 cases of recurrent hematospermia diagnosed with seminal vesicle calculus by non-contrast pelvic CT. The patients were aged 28 to 69 years, with persistent or recurrent hematospermia for 3 months to 6 years, and 5 of them with a history of acute urethritis.

Chinese Shang Ring Male Circumcision: A Review.

Chinese Shang Ring adult male circumcision (SC) is a safe and effective procedure which is easy to learn and to perform. By a specially designed small device, male circumcision (MC) can be performed in 5 min. Compared with conventional adult MC (CC), SC has shorter operation time, less blood loss, less pain score, higher appearance satisfaction rate, and lower complication rate.

A Novel Approach of Microscopic Subinguinal Varicocelectomy With a "Pulling" Strategy.

Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of a novel approach of microscopic subinguinal varicocelectomy with a "pulling" strategy.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-two male patients with varicocele were enrolled in this study. Twenty-six patients underwent conventional microscopic subinguinal varicocelectomy, whereas the remaining 26 patients accepted our novel approach of treatment.
