Background: Intraoral radiography in the right-angle technique is the standard procedure to examine the peri-implant bone level in implant follow-up and implant-related studies. For the implementation of the right-angle or parallel technique, mostly ready-made image receptor holders are used. The aim of this experimental study is to analyze changes in the measurement of standardized peri-implant defects caused by a deviation in the position of the image receptor.

The Hippo pathway controls tissue growth and regulates stem cell fate through the activities of core kinase cassette that begins with the Sterile 20-like kinase MST1/2. Activation of MST1/2 relies on trans-autophosphorylation but the details of the mechanisms regulating that reaction are not fully elucidated. Proposals include dimerization as a first step and include multiple models for potential kinase-domain dimers.

The current pilot study implemented a "Learning to Learn" (L2L) course designed to teach first-year college students about the science of how learning works, how to take ownership of their own learning, and how to effectively apply learning strategies to achieve their academic goals. A cognitive apprenticeship model was used in which students planned, executed, and evaluated strategy use in vivo during the course. Two sections of the course were taught at each of two different institutions, distributed across four semesters.

Canonically, MST1/2 functions as a core kinase of the Hippo pathway and noncanonically during both apoptotic signaling and with RASSFs in T-cells. Faithful signal transduction by MST1/2 relies on both appropriate activation and regulated substrate phosphorylation by the activated kinase. Considerable progress has been made in understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating the activation of MST1/2 and identifying downstream signaling events.

Ureterosciaic hernia is a rarely described pathology that represents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for the treating physician. In this case report, we present a patient with symptomatic bilateral ureteroschial hernias and a pelvic kidney on the left. The definitive surgical treatment of the hernias was performed in the robotic-assisted laparoscopic technique.

Introduction: Children worldwide often do not drink enough. However, sufficient fluids are essential for physical and cognitive health. A regular and adequate supply of fluids also supports bladder maturation in the context of acquiring urinary continence.

Aims: Since October 2018, urinary bladder diverticulum resections at our Department of Urology have been carried out with robot assistance and with minimal invasivion, Paediatrical urological and robot-assisted minimally invasive urological surgery for the Bamberg Social Foundation were performed with the DaVinci robotic system. The aim of the present study was to record the surgical results of our patients and to compare these if necessary with available data on optimal diagnostic and therapy.

Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we included all patients who received RAHDR between October 2018 and March 2020.

Background: Every year, ~ 210,000 initial implantations of hip endoprostheses are carried out in Germany alone. The "bone cement implantation syndrome" (BCIS) is considered a severe peri- and early-postoperative complication when implanting cemented prostheses. The origin of the BCIS and its impact on the clinical outcome are still uncertain.

Uretero-iliac artery fistulae represent a urological emergency with considerable mortality. We present 2 cases of a uretero-iliac artery fistula. Nowadays, minimally-invasive endovascular therapy seems to be the treatment of choice.

We present a rare case of ectopic thyroid tissue found during robotic nephrectomy of a kidney with a suspected malignant tumour. Such cases of ectopic thyroid tissue are extremely rare in the literature. If ectopic thyroid tissue occurs, it is usually found in the neck region or in the upper mediastinum.

Objectives: The use of drugs beyond their marketing authorisation, that is, off-label use, is common practice in palliative care with over 70% of off-label use having little or no scientific support. The lack of evidence makes recommendations for off-label use essential, in order to increase the safety of drug therapy and thus patient safety. The aim of this study was to develop a guide for preparing and consenting drug-specific recommendations for off-label use in palliative care.

Hippo pathway signaling limits cell growth and proliferation and maintains the stem-cell niche. These cellular events result from the coordinated activity of a core kinase cassette that is regulated, in part, by interactions involving Hippo, Salvador, and dRassF. These interactions are mediated by a conserved coiled-coil domain, termed SARAH, in each of these proteins.

To investigate the potential prognostic role of NFκB expression in primary high-grade non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Patients with primary high-grade non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer who received induction and maintenance BCG therapy were retrospectively included. Recurrence and progression were histologically proven.

A well-functioning uretero-intestinal anastomosis is essential for the preservation of kidney function following urinary diversion using bowel segments. In incontinent forms of urinary diversions, such as ileal conduits, the ureters are usually implanted in a refluxive manner, whereas there is still controversy about the ideal implantation technique in continent orthotopic or heterotopic reservoirs (i.e.

In contrast to ureterosigmoidostomy no reliable clinical data exist for tumor risk in different forms of urinary diversion using isolated intestinal segments. In 44 German urological departments, operation frequencies, indications, patient age, and operation dates of the different forms of urinary diversion, operated between 1970 and 2007, could be registered. The secondary tumors up to 2009 were registered as well and related to the numbers of the different forms of urinary diversions resulting in tumor prevalences.

Background: Granulosa cell tumor of the testis is a rare intermediate stromal cell tumor that can be distinguished in the adult and juvenile type. The juvenile type is the most common reason for scrotal swelling in newborns under the age of six months. Less than fifty cases of this disease entity have been reported in the literature.
