Background: Infections with fluconazole-resistant Candida parapsilosis have been increasing in Israeli hospitals with unclear implications for patient outcomes.

Objectives: To determine the frequency, mechanisms, molecular epidemiology, and outcomes of azole-resistant C. parapsilosis bloodstream infections in four hospitals in Israel.

Arrhythmias are a hallmark of myocardial infarction (MI) and increase patient mortality. How insult to the cardiac conduction system causes arrhythmias following MI is poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate conduction system restoration during neonatal mouse heart regeneration versus pathological remodeling at non-regenerative stages.

Background: Academic health centers (AHCs) have traditionally focused on 3 core missions: patient care, research, and education. The current changing health care environment requires AHCs to broaden their focus to improve the health of their communities. This study reports the opportunities and challenges for the 5 North Carolina AHCs addressing social determinants of health (SDOH).

Objectives: This systematic review with meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of elastic band training (EBT) on body composition and physical performance in apparently healthy older people.

Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted between October 2023 and May 2024 using the core collection of six generic databases: PubMed, ProQuest, EBSCOhost, CINAHL Complete, Scopus, and Web of Science. The PRISMA, TESTEX, RoB 2, and GRADE tools assessed the evidence's methodological quality and certainty.

We unveil the fundamental insights of electrochemical kinetics of LFP cathode material and the passivation layer formation in the SO-based non-flammable inorganic liquid electrolyte (IE). The influence of temperature and electrochemical potential cutoff in the electrochemical activity of LFP cathode and IE is disclosed. Furthermore, the materials compatibility, structural and chemical stability of LFP in IE is demonstrated using very slow galvanostatic cycling in combination with LiFePO4||LiFePO symmetric cells.

Brucellosis, a global zoonosis, is endemic in Israel. We used a national database of culture-confirmed cases (2004-2022) to analyse the trends of brucellosis. Of 2,489 unique cases, 99.

Dyspnea on exertion in otherwise healthy adolescents and young adults is often brought to the attention of a pediatric pulmonologist when it interferes with an athletic activity. Assessment of the cause and management has been controversial. Skilled pediatric pulmonologists may suspect the cause from a careful history, but a more definite diagnosis is needed to provide the most appropriate management.

Unlike the adult mammalian heart, which has limited regenerative capacity, the zebrafish heart fully regenerates following injury. Reactivation of cardiac developmental programs is considered key to successfully regenerating the heart, yet the regulation underlying the response to injury remains elusive. Here, we compared the transcriptome and epigenome of the developing and regenerating zebrafish epicardia.

Purpose: Sleep is a modifiable factor affecting chronic diseases and conditions in the Active-Duty (AD) United States (US) military population. This study assesses the impact of reported sleep health behaviors and sleep profiles on reported multimorbidity in active-duty service members (ADSMs).

Participants And Methods: The study used a military representative sample of 17,166 active duty SMs from the 2018 Department of Defense (HRBS) to explore sleep patterns and profiles, and medical conditions.

Aims: Extremely premature birth puts infants at high risk for developmental delay and results in parent anxiety and depression. The primary objective of this study was to characterize feasibility and acceptability of a therapist-led, parent-administered therapy and massage program designed to support parent mental health and infant development.

Methods: A single cohort of 25 dyads - parents (24 mothers, 1 father) and extremely preterm (<28 wk gestation) infants - participated in the intervention.

Around half of adolescent pregnancies in low- and middle-income countries are unintended, contributing to millions of unsafe abortions per year. Adolescents 360 (A360), a girl-centred initiative, aimed to increase voluntary uptake of modern contraceptives among adolescents in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania. We evaluated the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of A360 in increasing modern contraceptive use in selected geographies.

Background: Large cerebral aneurysms are much less common in children than in adults. Thus, when present, these lesions require careful surgical evaluation and comprehensive genetic testing. RASA1-associated capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (RASA1-CM-AVM) syndrome is a rare disorder of angiogenic remodeling known to cause port-wine stains and arteriovenous fistulas but not previously associated with pediatric aneurysms.

Permanent fibrosis and chronic deterioration of heart function in patients after myocardial infarction present a major health-care burden worldwide. In contrast to the restricted potential for cellular and functional regeneration of the adult mammalian heart, a robust capacity for cardiac regeneration is seen during the neonatal period in mammals as well as in the adults of many fish and amphibian species. However, we lack a complete understanding as to why cardiac regeneration takes place more efficiently in some species than in others.

Objective: The goal of this study was to assess the association of Latino caregiver-child nativity status (US- and foreign-born) with child obesity using a nationally representative sample.

Methods: Using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES 1999-2018), this study used generalized linear models to identify associations between caregiver-child nativity status (as a proxy for acculturation) and children's BMI.

Results: Compared with foreign-born caregiver-child dyads, US-born caregiver-child dyads had 2.
