Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate how the structure of retinal arteriolar bifurcations relates to the severity of coronary artery disease (CAD).
  • Using fundus photography, researchers analyzed 9625 bifurcations from 444 participants to look at various morphological parameters, including vessel diameters and branch angles.
  • Results indicated that patients with severe CAD showed significant deviations in bifurcation angles from the expected optimal geometry, suggesting potential use of these morphological changes as indicators of CAD severity.

Introduction: Biomonitoring of bisphenol A (BPA) in human blood is still scarce, although already noticeable. We aimed to examine the associations between prenatal serum BPA concentrations and behavior and cognitive function in preschool children.

Methods: A total of 1,782 mother-child pairs with complete demographic information, blood samples, and psychological measurements were included from the China-Anhui Birth Cohort (C-ABCS).

The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between weekly specific maternal air pollution exposures and low birth weight. We fitted a distributed lag nonlinear model (DLNM) to analyze the nonlinear exposure-response association and delayed effects of air pollutants on the risk for low birth weight. The model assumed that all live births have 40 gestational weeks.

To date, research evidence suggests that extreme ambient temperatures may lead to preterm birth. Since the results of studies in subtropical humid monsoon climate are inconclusive, we investigated the association between extreme ambient temperatures and the risk of preterm birth in Xuzhou, China. We analyzed the association between the birth data of 103,876 singleton deliveries (from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019) and ambient temperature.
