Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease that affects multiple organ systems. A key element in maintaining immune tolerance and preventing autoimmunity is the role of regulatory T cells (Treg cells). Among these, HLA-DR Treg cells represent a distinct subset, and their altered expression and functionality in SLE are closely associated with the progression of the disease.

A comprehensive understanding of the mechanical behavior of backfill under compression is crucial for optimizing its design, improving stope stability and enhancing resource recovery. Laboratory testing and numerical simulation were conducted to study the mechanical properties and damage mechanism of cemented tailings backfill (CTB) with different cement-to-tailings (c/t) ratios under uniaxial compression. Laboratory testing was used to investigate the strength and deformation characteristics, macroscopic failure modes, and energy evolution patterns of CTB, while simulation with Particle Flow Code (PFC) was employed to explore the distribution of microcracks and mesoscopic damage mechanisms.

Background: Due to the complexity of the thoracic spine's surrounding structures, thoracic tuberculosis surgery is challenging to perform, with difficult exposure, complex operations, numerous complications, and often unsatisfactory prognoses. Currently, it is believed that the posterior approach alone is superior to both the anterior and the combined anterior-posterior surgical methods in correcting spinal kyphosis and maintaining spinal stability. The posterior approach encompasses the transpedicular approach, costotransverse approach, and lateral thoracic approach.

Individuals exhibit variability in taste preferences, and personality plays a role in those variations. This study provides a comprehensive review of the relationship between taste preferences and personality traits, focusing on the five basic tastes (sweet, bitter, sour, salty, and umami) and spiciness. Through a systematic review of the literature from the past 30 years, 24 of 2182 articles were selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis protocol.

Objectives: This study explores whether sex differences in reactive aggression (RA) and proactive aggression (PA) are attributable to sex, gender role orientation, or their interaction and explores the neuroanatomical characteristics of these sex differences.

Methods: In a sample of 108 males and 126 females, we examined the sex-by-gender role orientation interaction on RA, PA, and brain gray matter volume (GMV). Then, we explored the relationship between aggression and regional GMV.

The performance of narrow-bandgap (NBG) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is limited by the severe nonradiative recombination and carrier transport barrier at the electron selective interface. Here, we reveal the importance of the molecular orientation for effective defect passivation and protection for Sn at the perovskite/C interface. We constructed an internally self-anchored dual-passivation (ISADP) layer, where the orientation of PCBM can be significantly enhanced by the interaction between ammonium and carbonyl groups.

The decline in sperm parameters among obese males has attracted significant scholarly interest. The intestinal microbiota plays a crucial role in obesity, and investigating the intestinal-reproductive axis may offer a novel molecular approach to addressing the decline in male sperm parameters caused by obesity. To clarify whether probiotics, either alone or in conjunction with metformin, can enhance sperm parameters in obese male mice and assess the underlying mechanisms involved.

Accurate differentiation and identification of flea species are essential for both basic and applied research on fleas, as well as for the diagnosis of flea-borne diseases. However, distinguishing between flea species can be challenging, especially among those with minimal morphological differences. Therefore, some scholars have suggested the necessity of comprehensive revisions to the classification of fleas, incorporating morphological, molecular, and phylogenetic data.

A half-dose influenza vaccine (7.5 μg hemagglutinin per strain) has been used for children under 3 years of age for a long time. However, several studies indicate that a full-dose influenza vaccine (15 μg hemagglutinin per strain) may bring more benefit to this population without increasing the risk of adverse reactions.

Article Synopsis
  • Microstamping significantly boosts the surface strength of alloy materials, specifically TiAl6V4, by increasing interatomic density and improving mechanical properties at the atomic level.
  • The research includes a detailed examination of how different overlap ratios during microstamping affect the damage mechanism, dislocation density, and overall material structure, revealing that dislocation density remains stable despite higher overlap.
  • Through simulations using ATOMSK and LAMMPS, the study proposes an optimal microstamping overlay ratio to enhance surface strength while minimizing processing time based on a thorough analysis of stress variations and microstructural changes.

Background And Objective: Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a recognized autoinflammatory disorder of unknown etiology. The standard initial management for AOSD includes conventional corticosteroids and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. In cases that are resistant to these treatments, additional therapeutic options such as immunosuppressants, biologics, and other alternative treatments may be considered.

To protect the safety of food bought from the online catering sector, the former State Food and Drug Administration of China issued two separate regulations in 2016 and 2017. Independently, the Shanghai government formulated local regulations, including the Shanghai Online Catering Service Supervision and Management Measures, to strengthen food safety supervision in this megacity with the largest catering sector in China. This study explored factors that influence consumer perceptions of the performance of online catering food safety regulations using survey data from 1050 respondents collected in 2019.

Background: Reduction of inflammatory damage and inhibition of nucleus pulposus (NP) apoptosis are considered to be the main effective therapy idea to reverse the intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) and alleviate the chronic low back pain. The adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR), as a member of G protein-coupled receptor families, plays an important role in the anti-inflammation and relieving pain. So far, the impact of A2AR on IDD therapy is unclear.

The wide application of ovine oocyte vitrification is limited by its relatively low efficiency. Nanoparticle is potentially to be used in cryopreservation technology for its unique characteristics with high biocompatibility, potent antioxidant property as well as superiority in membrane permeation and heat transduction. However, the effect of nanoparticle on ovine oocyte cryopreservation as well as the underlying mechanism has not been systematically evaluated.

Aggression can be categorized into reactive aggression (RA) and proactive aggression (PA) based on their underlying motivations. However, previous research has rarely identified the relationship between femininity and RA/PA, and there is a lack of understanding regarding the femininity-related neurofunctional basis of these aggressive behaviors. Thus, this study first examined the relationships between femininity and aggression, then explored the aggression-by-femininity interactions on the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations using resting-state fMRI among 705 university participants (mean age = 19.

Although previous behavioral studies have associated reactive aggression (RA) and proactive aggression (PA) with traditional masculinity, further investigation is needed into the traditional masculinity-linked neuroanatomical characteristics of RA and PA. This study analyzed the traditional masculinity-by-aggression interaction in 705 participants (350 men) by measuring grey matter volume (GMV). We have expanded on previous studies and found that traditional masculinity was not associated with RA and PA when not controlled for traditional femininity.

Bridge early warning based on structural health monitoring (SHM) system is of significant importance for ensuring bridge safe operation. The temperature-induced deflection (TID) is a sensitive indicator for performance degradation of continuous rigid frame bridges, but the time-lag effect makes it challenging to predict the TID accurately. A bridge early warning method based on nonlinear modeling for the TID is proposed in this article.

Irreversible cryogenic damage caused by oocyte vitrification limits its widespread use in female fertility preservation. In recent years, nanoparticles (NPs) have gained great attention as potential alternatives in protecting oocytes against cryoinjuries. In this paper, a novel composite nanoparticle, poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid)-resveratrol (PLGA-RES) was designed to improve the biocompatibility and sustained release properties by encapsulating natural antioxidant RES into PLGA NPs.
