Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound-guided (US-guided) percutaneous needle biopsy (PNB) and related influencing factors that could provide references for clinicians to improve the diagnostic accuracy of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 318 consecutive cases with PPLs who underwent US-guided PNB successfully in Chongqing Red Cross Hospital, Fusheng Community Health Service Center, Maoershi Community Health Service Center, and Yuzui Community Health Service Center. We collected pathological results of ultrasound-guided biopsy, clinical final diagnosis, disease course records, and postoperative complications of these patients.

Double-sided friction stir welding (DS-FSW) demands a low requirement of the welding tool and equipment and can lower the heat input, showing advantages in joining thick-plate joints. However, the intrinsic twice thermal cycle inevitably leads to the twice grain growth and softening, troubling the performance of the joints. To alleviate this phenomenon, this work proposed an asymmetric DS-FSW (Asy-DS-FSW) in which the first weld and second weld are obtained via a large tool and a small tool, respectively.

Understanding the regulatory mechanisms underlying the plant heat stress response is important for developing climate-resilient crops, including rice (Oryza sativa). Here, we report that OsEIL5, one member of the ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE3-LIKE family, positively regulates rice heat tolerance at the seedling and reproductive stages. OsEIL5 directly binds to the promoter of OsPP91 (encoding one type 2C protein phosphatase) and activates its expression.

Purpose: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a global health concern. Studies have demonstrated that oleanolic acid (OA) has a regulatory effect on MDD. However, OA is poorly soluble, has low oral bioavailability, and faces challenges in crossing the blood-brain barrier.

Background And Purpose: Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), which are expressed throughout the mammalian brain, mediate a variety of physiological functions. Despite their widespread presence, the functions of nAChRs are not yet fully understood. α-Conotoxins, which are peptides derived from the venom of marine cone snails, target different subtypes of nAChRs.

The KangDuo Surgical Robot-1500 (KD-SR-1500) is a newly developed surgical robot. We aim to evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the KD-SR-1500 system for robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). This prospective, multicenter, single-arm clinical study was conducted among 18-75-year-old patients with suspected T1-2N0M0 prostate cancer scheduled for RARP.

Heat stress significantly impacts global rice production, highlighting the critical need to understand the genetic basis of heat resistance in rice. U2AF (U2 snRNP auxiliary factor) is an essential splicing complex with critical roles in recognizing the 3'-splice site of precursor messenger RNAs (pre-mRNAs). The U2AF small subunit (U2AF35) can bind to the 3'-AG intron border and promote U2 snRNP binding to the branch-point sequences of introns through interaction with the U2AF large subunit (U2AF65).

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) is a common degenerative disease that causes chronic pain and joint dysfunction. However, the current understanding of TMJOA pathogenesis is limited and necessitates further research. Animal models are crucial for investigating TMJOA due to the scarcity of clinical samples.

There are inconsistent results pertaining to risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients following urologic surgeries. We attempted to establish a visualization model to shed further light upon this topic. Consequently, a total of 436 patients who were tested for VTE following urologic surgeries were retrospectively enrolled.

An efficient and facile method has been developed for the construction of novel P-S-C and P-Se-C bonds by facilitating the three-component cross-coupling reaction of P-H bonds with elemental sulfur/selenium and vinylsulfonium salts, utilizing sodium bicarbonate as a base. This approach eliminates the need for the use of toxic and odorous active sulfur/selenium reagents and noble metals, thereby offering a new pathway for synthesizing -phosphinothioates and -phosphinoselenoates via the organic conversion of inorganic sources. The reaction has showcased remarkable versatility in terms of substrate applicability, particularly for organophosphorus compounds containing P-H bonds and vinylsulfonium salt derivatives.

Eleven polyketide derivatives, including two new compounds, xanthoradone D () and arisochromophilone (), were isolated from HJ-7, a Chinese medicinal plant Hance-associated fungus. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and ECD (Electronic Circular Dichroism) calculations. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the compounds were evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how acylation, specifically crotonylation, regulates the production of daptomycin in the actinomycete Streptomyces roseosporus by modifying key metabolic enzymes.
  • Researchers found that crotonylation of the enzyme DptE, which starts the daptomycin biosynthesis process, limits its activity and identified the enzymes involved in adding and removing the crotonyl group.
  • By altering certain residues on DptE, the researchers enhanced its activity, significantly increasing daptomycin yield and suggesting potential improvements for industrial production through decrotonylation strategies.

A novel and straightforward method for the iron-catalyzed regioselective cross-dehydrogenative coupling of -quinone methides (-QMs) with formamides has been developed, facilitated by the activation of the C(sp)-H bonds of the formyl and alkenyl substituents via a radical strategy. This method does not require the preactivation of the substrates, and it can accommodate a wide range of -QMs and formamides under the optimized reaction conditions, resulting in the formation of the expected C-7 acetamides-functionalized -quinone methides with moderate to good yields. The control experiments revealed that the reaction follows the fundamental equation of second-order kinetics.

Background: Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) gains increasing popularity in the surgical management of prostate cancer (PCa) but is challenged by its prohibitive expense. A domestic robotic system has been developed to address this issue, but data comparing the self-developed robot with the widely used robot is lacking. We performed a randomized clinical trial to compare KD-SR-01 and DaVinci robots in terms of perioperative, short-term oncological and functional outcomes in RARP.

Understanding the mechanisms that regulate plant root growth under soil drying is an important challenge in root biology. We observed that moderate soil drying promotes wheat root growth. To understand whether metabolic and hormonic changes are involved in this regulation, we performed transcriptome sequencing on wheat roots under well-watered and moderate soil drying conditions.
