Properties of Electrode Induction Melting Gas Atomization- and Vacuum Induction Melting Atomization-Produced Powders and Their As-HIPed Blanks.

The main method for large-scaled preparing powder superalloys in the production process is inert gas atomization, particularly vacuum-induced gas atomization (VIGA). A novel technique called electrode-induced gas atomization (EIGA) with a crucible-free electrode was proposed to prepare non-inclusion superalloy powders. In this study, a Ni-based superalloy of FGH4096 powder was prepared using both the VIGA and EIGA methods, while blanks were prepared through direct hot isostatic pressing (as-HIPed) near-net-forming method.

Segmentectomy and wedge resection are equivalent for the treatment of early-stage pulmonary carcinoid tumors: A retrospective cohort study.

Currently, there is no consensus regarding the extent of surgery for stage I pulmonary carcinoid (PC) tumors, which encompass typical carcinoid (TC) and atypical carcinoid (AC) tumors. Sublobar resection includes segmental resection and wedge resection; the former is regarded as a type of anatomical resection that is better suited for tumor treatment. Therefore, it needs to be further verified whether differences exist in the effects of the two surgical methods on the survival time of patients.

Association of Abnormal Sleep Duration and Sleep Disturbance with Physical Activity in Older Adults: Between- and within-Person Effects.

Background: Evidence on the temporal sequences between balance and depressive symptoms is limited, and no studies have compared the strength of each direction. This study aimed to assess the association between balance performance and depressive symptoms among community-dwelling older adults, and further to explore the driving factors in the dynamic association.

Methods: Data were obtained from the English Longitudinal Study of Aging (ELSA).

The role of surgery in advanced thymic tumors: A retrospective cohort study.

Background: There is no definitive and detailed treatment guideline for advanced thymic tumors, thus when lymph node and other organ metastasis are present, clinical guidelines recommend chemotherapy-based multidisciplinary treatment. A consensus has been reached that surgery has beneficial effects on partial patients with stage IVA whose metastatic lesions were isolated and resectable, but because of few cases of advanced thymic tumor s and the scarcity of reports, the role of surgery in stage IVB is still unknown. The current study aimed to systematically analyze the role of surgery in advanced thymic tumors based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, with a sufficient number of cases.

Nomogram for predicting the 12-year risk of ADL disability among older adults.

Objectives: Previous studies have identified plenty of risk factors for activities of daily living (ADL). However, there are no reliable and widely available prediction models for ADL disability up to now. This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting the 12-year risk of ADL disability in older adults.

Prognostic Significance and Therapeutic Target of CXC Chemokines in the Microenvironment of Lung Adenocarcinoma.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the most important subtypes of lung cancer and has a high morbidity and mortality. Inflammatory CXC chemokines in tumor microenvironment can stimulate tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis, affecting the prognosis of patients. However, the differential expression profiles, prognostic values, and specific mechanisms of the CXC chemokine family in LUAD have not been clarified.

Background: Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is an aggressive malignancy and accounts for the majority of cancer-related death worldwide. The metal-organic framework materials have an important application as sensors. In this work, a microporous three-dimensional (3D) Eu(III)-organic framework (Eu-MOF), [Eu(3,5-bct)(phen)(ox)(HO)]·HO, was constructed from 3,5-bis(3'-carboxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole (3,5-Hbct), oxalate (ox) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) as a luminescent sensor. The free volume was found to be 15.

The effect of the enhanced recovery after surgery program on lung cancer surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Lung cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide. The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program is an effective evidence-based multidisciplinary protocol of perioperative care. However, the roles of ERAS in lung cancer surgery remain unclear.

Expression of WW domain-containing protein 2 is correlated with pathological grade and recurrence of glioma.

Objective: WW domain-containing protein 2 (WWP2) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase, which belongs to the NEDD4-like protein family. Recently, it is reported to play a key role in tumorigenesis and development of tumors such as prostate and lung cancer. However, there has been not related report on glioma until now.

β-transducin repeat-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase inhibits migration, invasion and proliferation of glioma cells.

β-transducin repeat-containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (β-TrCP) serves as the substrate recognition subunit for the Skp1-Cullin1-F-box protein E3 ubiquitin ligase, which recognizes the double phosphorylated DSG (X)S destruction motif in various substrates that are essential for numerous aspects of tumorigenesis and regulates several important signaling pathways. However, the biological significance of β-TrCP in glioma progression remains largely unknown. A previous study by the authors demonstrated that the levels of β-TrCP protein expression in brain glioma tissues were significantly lower compared with non-tumorous tissues and that higher grades of gliomas exhibited lower levels of β-TrCP expression in comparison with lower glioma grades.

In addition, β-TrCP regulates various important signaling pathways. As β-TrCP is involved in regulating the ubiquitination and degradation of multiple oncogenes and tumor suppressors, the function of β-TrCP varies between cancer types.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 22: a novel molecular biomarker in glioma prognosis and therapeutics.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 22 (USP22) exhibits an important function in tumor progression and oncogenesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of USP22 and the association with its potential targets in patients with glioma. To our knowledge, this is the first study that determines the relationship between USP22 expression and clinicopathological significance in glioma.
