Limited scientific evidence exists on phosphorus immobilization under autogenetic electrochemical reactions in composting systems. This study exploited a composting procedure using microbial fuel cell (MFC) to ascertain phosphorus redistribution during composting process. Compared to the control without MFC equipment, MFC-assisted treatment yielded a 13 % decrease in phosphorus availability due to the transformation of exchangeable fraction (Ex-P) to aluminum-bound (Al-P) and calcium-bound (Ca-P) fractions.

Purpose: The temporal evolution of ventricular trabecular complexity and its correlation with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) remain indeterminate in patients presenting with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Methods: This retrospective analysis enrolled patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) for acute STEMI, possessing cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) data in the acute (within 7 days), subacute (1 month after pPCI), and chronic phases (6 months after pPCI) from January 2015 to January 2020 at the three participating sites. Fractal dimensions (FD) were measured for the global, infarct, and remote regions of left ventricular trabeculae during each phase.

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor PPARγ coactivator-α (PGC-1α) is concentrated in inhibitory interneurons and plays a vital role in neuropsychiatric diseases. We previously reported some characteristic features of schizophrenia (SZ) in GABAergic neuron-specific knockout (KO) mice (Dlx5/6-Cre: -1). However, there is a fundamental gap in the molecular mechanism by which the gene is involved in the neurobehavioral abnormalities of SZ.

We propose a method for coupling a tapered optical fiber to an inverted tapered SiN waveguide by fabricating a microfiber using 3D nanoprinting lithography. The microfiber consists of three parts: a tapered cladding cap, an S-bend, and a straight part, all composed of high-refractive-index material. Light is adiabatically coupled from the tapered fiber to the printed microfiber through the cladding cap.

Quantum key distribution (QKD) aims to generate secure private keys shared by two remote parties. With its security being protected by principles of quantum mechanics, some technology challenges remain towards practical application of QKD. The major one is the distance limit, which is caused by the fact that a quantum signal cannot be amplified while the channel loss is exponential with the distance for photon transmission in optical fiber.

Gaussian boson sampling (GBS) is not only a feasible protocol for demonstrating quantum computational advantage, but also mathematically associated with certain graph-related and quantum chemistry problems. In particular, it is proposed that the generated samples from the GBS could be harnessed to enhance the classical stochastic algorithms in searching some graph features. Here, we use Jiǔzhāng, a noisy intermediate-scale quantum computer, to solve graph problems.

Twin-field quantum key distribution (TFQKD) promises ultralong secure key distribution which surpasses the rate distance limit and can reduce the number of the trusted nodes in long-haul quantum network. Tremendous efforts have been made toward implementation of TFQKD, among which, the secure key with finite size analysis can distribute more than 500 km in the lab and in the field. Here, we demonstrate the sending-or-not-sending TFQKD experimentally, achieving a secure key distribution with finite size analysis over a 658 km ultra-low-loss optical fiber.

We report phase-programmable Gaussian boson sampling (GBS) which produces up to 113 photon detection events out of a 144-mode photonic circuit. A new high-brightness and scalable quantum light source is developed, exploring the idea of stimulated emission of squeezed photons, which has simultaneously near-unity purity and efficiency. This GBS is programmable by tuning the phase of the input squeezed states.

Genomic instability (GIN) is pivotal in regulating tumor drug resistance, which blocked the treatment of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Although recent studies implied that non-coding RNA (ncRNA)-mediated autophagy abolishment promoted tumorigenesis by up-regulation of GIN, autophagy was known as a risk factor in tumor drug resistance. However, previous study also pointed that up-regulation of autophagy promoted GIN.
