The task of RNA design given a target structure aims to find a sequence that can fold into that structure. It is a computationally hard problem where some version(s) have been proven to be NP-hard. As a result, heuristic methods such as local search have been popular for this task, but by only exploring a fixed number of candidates.

We have investigated the anticancer effects of the dietary isothiocyanate sulforaphane (SFN) on colorectal cancer (CRC), using primary cancer cells lines isolated from five Taiwanese colorectal cancer patients as the model for colorectal cancer. SFN-treated cells accumulated in metaphase (SFN 6.25 μM) and subG1 (SFN 12.

The inheritance of the white-flower and its influence to related characters in eggplant were studied with the white-flowered mutant of XIANLVQIE and its maternal bred. Result showed that the flower color was attributed to a couple of complete dominance genes. Purple color flower "Col" was dominant to the white "col".

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of combination chemotherapy using gemcitabine plus cisplatin for recurrent and/or metastastic head and neck cancer patients.

Methods: Fifty-two patients with recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer were treated by gemcitabine 1000 mg/m(2) on D1, 8 and cisplatin 25 mg/m(2) on D1 approximately 3 every 21 days as one cycle.

Results: Of 52 assessable patients, 3 (5.

Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Wei-Yu Tang"

  • - Wei-Yu Tang's research focuses on various aspects of cancer treatment, particularly the anticancer effects of dietary compounds like sulforaphane, as demonstrated in studies involving human colorectal cancer cell lines and SCID mice.
  • - Investigations into genetic traits in agricultural biology are also part of Tang's work, such as studying the inheritance patterns of flower color in eggplant, which contributes to broader understandings of plant genetics.
  • - Additionally, Tang has explored chemotherapy efficacy in head and neck cancer, analyzing the results of a clinical study involving gemcitabine and cisplatin to assess treatment response and side effects in patients with advanced stages of the disease.
