Thiazolidinediones play a positive role in the vascular endothelium and inhibit plaque progression in diabetic patients with coronary atherosclerosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Unlabelled: Rosiglitazone (Avandia) and pioglitazone (Actos) belong to the class of thiazolidinediones (TZDs) drugs that act by increasing insulin sensitivity and are widely used for treating diabetic patients with insulin resistance. TZDs exhibit anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, then may play an active role in inhibiting plaque formation and coronary atherosclerosis. But the results of evidence-based medicine suggest that TZDs may increase the risk of cardiovascular adverse events.

Comprehensive Analysis of Key mRNAs and lncRNAs in Osteosarcoma Response to Preoperative Chemotherapy with Prognostic Values.

Objective: Osteosarcoma is one of the most common types of bone sarcoma with a poor prognosis. However, identifying the predictive factors that contribute to the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy remains a significant challenge.

Methods: A public data series (GSE87437) was downloaded to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) between osteosarcoma patients that do and do not respond to preoperative chemotherapy.

[Effect of Tanshinone IIA in Preventing and Treating Oxaliplatin Induced Peripheral Neuropathy].

Objective: To observe preventive and therapeutic effects of Tanshinone IIA (T II A) on oxaliplatin induced peripheral neuropathy (OlPN) and to explore its effects on the expression of calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP) and never growth factor (NGF).

Methods: Totally 36 phase II - III patients with malignant tumor of digestive tract undergoing chemotherapy program with oxaliplatin, were equally assigned to the T II A group (using THA at 80 mg/day 1 day before oxaliplatin chemotherapy for 3 successive days) and the control group (using chemotherapy program with oxaliplatin alone) by segmented randomization. After 4 cycles of chemotherapy, the incidence degree and incidence of OlPN were evaluated.

Role of Hedgehog signaling pathway in proliferation and invasiveness of hepatocellular carcinoma cells.

The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway has been confirmed a contributor to the carcinogenesis and progression of various tumor types. To investigate the Hh signaling activity in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), we detected the expression levels of Hh pathway components (Shh, Ptch1 and Gli2) in 57 samples of HCC and corresponding adjacent-tumor liver tissues. The Hh pathway was overexpressed in cancer tissues compared with non-cancer tissues and correlated closely with histologic differentiation and portal venous invasion of HCC.
