Sea urchins have a transferrin-like yolk protein, while all other major precursors of yolk proteins in oviparous invertebrates belong to the superfamily of large lipid transfer proteins (LLTPs). However, a comprehensive understanding of vitellogenesis is absent in cephalopods.
