Enhanced PM pollution in China due to aerosol-cloud interactions.

Aerosol-cloud interactions (aerosol indirect effects) play an important role in regional meteorological variations, which could further induce feedback on regional air quality. While the impact of aerosol-cloud interactions on meteorology and climate has been extensively studied, their feedback on air quality remains unclear. Using a fully coupled meteorology-chemistry model, we find that increased aerosol loading due to anthropogenic activities in China substantially increases column cloud droplet number concentration and liquid water path (LWP), which further leads to a reduction in the downward shortwave radiation at surface, surface air temperature and planetary boundary layer (PBL) height.

Hoarding in Singapore.

Hoarding refers to an excessive acquisition of objects and inability to part with apparently valueless possessions. While it can lead to excessive clutter, distress and disability, it is important to note that not all cases of hoarding are pathological. This article aims to suggest how one can make recommendations to patients and families when they encounter someone exhibiting hoarding behaviour.

Unfair employment discrimination of previously depressed individuals.

Individuals who have recovered from or are in a remissive state of depression are often required to declare their psychiatric history during applications for employment. This practice exposes such individuals to discrimination even though they are no longer afflicted by the condition, leading to the question whether the practice is fair and justified. Such discrimination can also have adverse health implications as individuals with active depression might not want to seek help early for fear of stigmatisation.
