Background: Angiogenesis plays a pivotal role in colorectal cancer (CRC), yet its underlying mechanisms demand further exploration. This study aimed to elucidate the significance of angiogenesis-related genes (ARGs) in CRC through comprehensive multi-omics analysis.

Methods: CRC patients were categorized according to ARGs expression to form angiogenesis-related clusters (ARCs).

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the role of a novel circular RNA, hsa_circ_101303, in colorectal cancer (CRC) to understand how it contributes to the disease and its potential as a diagnostic marker.
  • Researchers found that hsa_circ_101303 is significantly overexpressed in CRC tissues, correlating with advanced stages of the disease, and its levels in plasma could help diagnose CRC with reasonable accuracy.
  • A competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed that highlights the interactions between hsa_circ_101303, specific miRNAs, and target genes, providing insights into the regulatory mechanisms of colorectal cancer.

LncRNAs have shown to regulate ferroptosis in colorectal cancer (CRC), but the mechanism remains largely unknown. This study unveiled the mechanism of SNHG4 underlying ferroptosis in CRC. RNA-seq and RT-PCR assay confirmed SNHG4 was decreased after Erastin treatment in CRC cells.

Oxaliplatin resistance poses a significant challenge in colorectal cancer (CRC) therapy, necessitating further investigation into the underlying molecular mechanisms. This study aimed to elucidate the regulatory role of SNHG4 in oxaliplatin resistance and ferroptosis in CRC. Our findings revealed that treatment with oxaliplatin led to downregulation of SNHG4 expression in CRC cells, while resistant CRC cells exhibited higher levels of SNHG4 compared to parental cells.

Article Synopsis
  • * Five miRNAs were found to have altered expression in CRC tissues, with two being upregulated (miR-595 and miR-1237) and three downregulated (miR-126, miR-139, and miR-143).
  • * While these miRNAs were linked to CRC pathogenesis, they were not correlated with cancer stage, and using a combination of them improved diagnostic accuracy for CRC compared to using a single miRNA.

Article Synopsis
  • * The main sources of PFOS in China were domestic production and its usage in final products, leading to significant environmental emissions, primarily into soil and water, with 103 tons emitted in 2019.
  • * Despite an increase in management and trends toward greener solutions, traditional end-of-life methods like landfill and incineration were still dominant, and the study aims to support better PFOS management strategies in China.

Nilotinib has been used as a third-line drug for gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) after a failure of sunitinib. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy of nilotinib in different genomic subtypes of GISTs. We searched the English articles through EMBASE, Cochrane Library and PubMed Database regarding to the use of nilotinib on GISTs, which published up to February 15, 2019.

Background: Laparoscopic tumor-specific mesorectal excision (TSME) preserving the left colic artery and superior rectal artery is still a technically challenging procedure. We conducted this study to demonstrate the feasibility of this procedure for upper rectal cancer.

Methods: A total of 184 patients with upper rectal cancer were retrospectively analyzed in our cancer center between April 2010 and April 2017.

The aim of the present study was to identify potential prognostic microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers for colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) prognostic prediction using the dataset of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The genome‑wide miRNA sequencing dataset and corresponding COAD clinical information were downloaded from TCGA. Prognosis‑related miRNA screening was performed by genome‑wide multivariable Cox regression analysis and used for prognostic signature construction.

Background: Syndecan-1 plays a vital role in the suppression, transformation, and migration of several cancer types, including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the prognostic and clinical significance of syndecan-1 in CRC remains conflicting. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to clarify this relationship.
