Long-Term Trends and Predictors of Medical Resource Utilization and Medical Outcomes in Inguinal Hernia Repair: A Nationwide Cohort Study.

Background: Few studies have comprehensively and systematically analyzed nationwide samples. This study purposed to explore temporal trends and predictors of medical resource utilization and medical outcomes in these patients to obtain data that can be used to improve healthcare policies and to support clinical and administrative decision-making.

Methods: This study used nationwide population data contained in the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database of Taiwan.

Invasiveness and surgical timing evaluation by clinical features of ground-glass opacity nodules in lung cancers.

Background: The early stages of lung cancer with ground-glass opacity (GGO) pattern are detectable. However, it remains a challenge for physicians how best to treat GGO nodules as invasive tumors are occasionally found, even in pure GGO nodules. This study identified the invasiveness by the clinical features of the GGO nodules.

Management of base of tongue squamous cell carcinoma: experience with 85 patients in Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

Background: The optimal treatment of base of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (BOTSCC) remains controversial. To optimize treatment planning, this study analyzed the outcomes of patients with BOTSCC treated in Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

Methods: Retrospective chart reviews were performed for 107 patients with BOTSCC from January 1990 to December 2004, and 85 patients were included, with a mean follow-up interval of 38 months.
