- The study assessed the combined use of percutaneous hepatic cryoablation and ethanol injection as a treatment for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in 65 patients.
- Following treatment, 50.8% of patients were tumor-free after an average of 14 months, and 78% of those with more than a year of follow-up were still alive despite some tumor recurrence.
- Complications were generally mild, including a small number of serious side effects, with most patients showing a decrease in tumor size and a reduction in alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels after treatment.
