Intercropping is emerging as a sustainable strategy to manage soil-borne diseases, yet the underlying mechanisms remain largely elusive. Here, we investigated how intercropping chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium) with ginger (Zingiber officinale) suppressed Fusarium wilt and influenced the associated rhizo-microbiome. Chrysanthemum plants in intercropping systems exhibited a marked reduction in wilt severity and greater biomass compared to those grown in monoculture.

Prolonged exposure to high-altitude environments may increase the risk of cognitive decline in young migrants. Recent studies suggest that hypobaric hypoxia-induced alterations in gut microbial composition could partly contribute to this risk. However, the absence of direct evidence from cohort studies and an unclear mechanism hinder intervention development based on this hypothesis.

Although goji berry with many main biological activity components is a nutritional medicinal and edible plan and widespread in the northeast of China, its current development also faces a new challenge of overcapacity. So this study was largely focused to investigate the optimal extraction process conditions (extraction water proportion, acidic pH regulating reagent, adjusted pH, extraction temperature, extraction time) for goji berry with increased yield. Box Behnken experimental design (BBD) was used to model the mathematical model of the relationship between the three main influence of pivotal extraction parameters (extraction pH, extraction time and extraction temperature) selected by the single factor experiments on the responses of goji berry pectin yield (%).

Face-centered cubic (FCC)-structured high-entropy alloys (HEAs) are facing a major challenge due to a trade-off between strength and ductility. In this paper, we systematically investigated the microstructural evolution and tensile properties of metastable dual-phase (DP) FeMnCoCr HEAs via cold rolling and partial recrystallized annealing, which resulted in a heterogeneous microstructure, and by inducing strengthening and strain-hardening through heterogeneous deformation-induced (HDI) strategies. The results show that the alloy was annealed at 600 °C for 10 min, exhibiting a good combination of strength and ductility.

The human body function requires crosstalk between different tissues. An essential crosstalk is in the neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) axis involving neural, muscular, and skeletal tissues, which is challenging to model using human cells. Here, we describe the generation of three-dimensional, NMS tri-tissue organoids (hNMSOs) from human pluripotent stem cells through a co-development strategy.

This study proposes a modified Damage Stress Model (DSM) for fatigue life prediction, addressing the variability of ultimate stress during damage transfer under multi-stage stress. The model incorporates Generalized Ultimate Stress (GUS), influenced by the ultimate stress, the sum of the previous-stage fatigue damage, and the ratio of adjacent stress. Comparative analysis with the Miner, DSM, and Manson models, using experimental data from multiple materials and stages, shows that the proposed model outperforms others, rectifying limitations of the original DSM and providing more accurate fatigue predictions.

Although porous frameworks are structurally ideal for the development of biomaterials through drug adsorption, sequestration, and delivery, integration of multiple biofunctions into a biocompatible porous framework would greatly improve its potential for preclinical investigations by increasing both therapeutic value and research and development efficiency. Herein, we report the preparation of a highly biocompatible supramolecular organic framework from an imidazolium-derived tetrahedral monomer and cucurbit[8]uril. The supramolecular organic framework has been revealed to have regular intrinsic porosity and adsorb doxorubicin, photofrin, and heparins driven by hydrophobicity and/or ion-pairing electrostatic interactions.

Adult mammals, unlike some lower organisms, lack the ability to regenerate damaged hearts through cardiomyocytes (CMs) dedifferentiation into cells with regenerative capacity. Developing conditions to induce such naturally unavailable cells with potential to proliferate and differentiate into CMs, that is, regenerative cardiac cells (RCCs), in mammals will provide new insights and tools for heart regeneration research. In this study, we demonstrate that a two-compound combination, CHIR99021 and A-485 (2C), effectively induces RCCs from human embryonic stem cell-derived TNNT2 CMs in vitro, as evidenced by lineage tracing experiments.
