Inflammation is among the known causes of cisplatin-induced hearing loss (CIHL), but its exact pathophysiological mechanisms remain unclear. Herein, we demonstrated that pyroptosis-a recently identified inflammatory type of regulated cell death dependent on gasdermin D (GSDMD)-was activated in the cochleae of cisplatin-treated mice, causing CIHL. Meanwhile, treatment with the GSDMD inhibitor necrosulfonamide alleviated CIHL in these mice.

Biodegradable Zn alloy has recently gained attention for use in bone implants considering its biodegradability, attractive mechanical properties and bioactivity. However, excessive corrosion of Zn alloy at the early stage of implantation may cause severe cytotoxicity, resulting in insufficient osseointegration, which hinders the clinical use of Zn alloy. In this study, we designed a photothermally controlled degradative hybrid coating as a corrosion-protective barrier with the intention of preventing Zn ion burst release during the early stages of implantation and regaining the alloy's corrosion advantage later on.

Background And Hypothesis: Disorganized thinking is a prominent feature of schizophrenia that becomes persistent in the presence of treatment resistance. Disruption of the default mode network (DMN), which regulates self-referential thinking, is now a well-established feature of schizophrenia. However, we do not know if DMN disruption affects disorganization and contributes to treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS).

The increasing interest in studying the structure-property relationships of ceria dioxide (CeO) relies on the fact that many factors are key to determining the performance of CeO materials. Despite the great advances achieved, it remains a formidable challenge to regulate CeO nanoparticles at the molecular level and gain in-depth insight into their structure-property relationships. What is reported here is a ligand strategy for regulating CeO nanoparticles, in terms of not only shape, structure, surface composition, but also property.

Additive engineering is extensively employed in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) to enhance the device performance. However, the effectiveness of additives is restricted, as they generally interact with only one or two components within the perovskite structure. Consequently, these additives are unable to fulfill the comprehensive functional requirements imposed by perovskite light-emitting materials.

To improve the heat transfer efficiency of the hot dry rock (HDR) well group, a near-well stimulation method of liquid CO phase transition blasting (LCO-PB) is put forward, the fracturing characteristics and mechanism of samples induced by impact dynamic load are analyzed, the effects of hydraulic fracturing cracks, buried depth, shock wave amplitude, and blasting frequency on the reservoir stimulation are clarified, and feasible suggestions have been proposed for its on-site application. Results show that the dynamic load applied by LCO-PB can effectively increase the number and connectivity of cracks and enhance the complexity of damaged cracks. The existence of hydraulic fracturing cracks has a promoting effect on the generation and distribution because blasting stress wave can reflect and refract in the hydraulic fracturing cracks and torn apart the surrounding area.

Sound-evoked wakefulness from sleep is crucial in daily life, yet its neural mechanisms remain poorly understood. It is found that CaMKIIα+ neurons in the temporal association cortex (TeA) of mice are not essential for natural awakening from sleep. However, optogenetic activation of these neurons reliably induces wakefulness from non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep but not from rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
