Cloning and characterisation of a Δ9 fatty acyl desaturase-like gene from the red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) and its expression analysis under cold stress.

Desaturase is one of the key enzymes in the unsaturated fatty acid synthesis pathway. Δ9 desaturase catalyzes the synthesis of oleic acid from stearic acid by introducing double bonds in the 9th and 10th carbon chains, thereby increasing the content of MUFAs in the body. In order to explore the main function of the Δ9 desaturase gene under low temperature stress, RACE-PCR technology was used in this study to clone the full-length sequence of the CqFAD9-like from the hepatopancreas of red claw crayfish, Cherax quadricarinatus.

Awake fiberoptic intubation and use of bronchial blockers in ankylosing spondylitis patients.

Background: Patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) combined with severe cervical fusion deformity have difficult airways. Awake fiberoptic intubation is the standard treatment for such patients. Alleviating anxiety and discomfort during intubation while maintaining airway patency and adequate ventilation is a major challenge for anesthesiologists.

Analgesic effect of parecoxib combined with ropivacaine in patients undergoing laparoscopic hepatectomy.

Background: Currently, there is no uniform standard for analgesia during laparoscopic hepatectomy. Most of the analgesia schemes adopt epidural analgesia after laparotomy. Although the analgesia is effective, it has a great impact on the recovery of patients after laparoscopic hepatectomy and is not completely suitable for analgesia after laparoscopic hepatectomy.

Oxidative stress modulates the expression of toll‑like receptor 3 during respiratory syncytial virus infection in human lung epithelial A549 cells.

Toll‑like receptor 3 (TLR3) can react with double stranded RNA and is involved in the inflammatory response to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. Also, oxidative stress has been reported to be involved in RSV infection. However, the correlation between oxidative stress and TLR3 activation during RSV infection is unclear.

Iatrogenic Gastrointestinal Perforation Following Therapeutic Endoscopic Procedures: Management and Outcome.

The aim of this study was to analyze the location, the cause and treatment of iatrogenic gastrointestinal perforations following therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Perforation occurred in 12 patients out of 3,389, giving cases occurred intraoperatively or postoperatively. Among them, 6 cases were closed by titanium clipping and 1 case by purse string suture.

Non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis in a rat model: shear wave elasticity imaging versus real-time elastography.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnostic value of shear wave elasticity imaging (SWEI) and real-time elastography (RTE) in liver fibrosis induced by dimethylnitrosamine (DMN) and to compare the accuracy of these methods. Seventy male Wistar rats given a single intra-peritoneal injection of DMN and 10 control rats given a saline injection underwent SWEI and RTE to determine their shear wave velocity (V(s)) and liver fibrosis (LF) index, respectively. Correlations between V(s) or the LF index and histologic stage of liver fibrosis (S0-S4) were analyzed, and the diagnostic values of the techniques were assessed using a receiver operating characteristic curve.

Characterization of Cdc2 kinase in the red claw crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus): evidence for its role in regulating oogenesis.

Cdc2 kinase is a catalytic subunit of the maturation-promoting factor (MPF), a central factor for inducing the meiotic maturation of oocytes. MPF has been studied in a wide variety of animal species; however, its expression in crustaceans is poorly characterized. In this study, a complete cDNA sequence of Cdc2 kinase was cloned from the red claw crayfish, Cherax quadricarinatus, and its spatiotemporal expression profiles were analyzed.
