Persulfate-based advanced oxidation processes (PS-AOPs) catalyzed by carbon-based catalysts are promising for removing organic pollutants via radical/non-radical pathways. However, the activation efficiency of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) or peroxydisulfate (PDS) usage and the reaction mechanism remain insufficiently understood. In this study, the effects of PMS/PDS dosage on the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA, 10 mg/L) were evaluated using N-doped biochar (N-BC, 0.

The low-energy physics of Tomonaga-Luttinger liquids (TLLs) is controlled by the Luttinger parameter. We demonstrate that this parameter can be extracted from a single wave function for one-component TLLs with periodic boundary condition. This method relies on the fact that TLLs are described by conformal field theory in which crosscap states can be constructed.

Anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) sprain is one of the most prevalent sports-related injuries, so proper evaluation of ligament sprains is critical for treatment options. However, existing tests suffer from a lack of standardized quantitative evaluation criteria, interindividual variability, incompatible materials, or risks of infection. Although advanced medical diagnostic methods already have been using noninvasive, portable, and wearable diagnostic electronics, these devices have insufficient adhesion to accurately respond to internal body injuries.

Inter-organelle communication coordinates cellular homeostasis and function. Juvenile hormone (JH) is produced in the corpora allata (CA) and acts as a gonadotrophic hormone in most insects. Using transcriptomic, biochemical, molecular, and genetic analyses, here we investigated the underlying mechanism of how inter-organelle communication dynamically orchestrates JH biosynthesis and female reproduction in the American cockroach, .

The interface friction between prosthetic socket and residual limb tends to cause skin injury and pain. The frictional pain was systematically studied based on skin tribological behaviors and brain activation. The results showed that the skin frictional pain was affected by the combination of friction and mechanical properties of anatomic regions and liner materials.

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) has the highest morbidity among renal cell carcinoma (RCC) subtypes. While existing clinical pharmacological intervention strategies have achieved certain efficacy, challenges including inevitable drug resistance and intricate immune heterogeneity of ccRCC continue to hinder their biomedical application. Therefore, developing novel immunotherapeutic agents and identifying patients who can gain the greatest benefits from these therapies are urgent issues.

Despite the importance of oncofertility care in supporting women coping with fertility challenges after breast cancer, the practice of oncofertility care among nurses remains suboptimal. There is an urgent need to investigate oncofertility barriers faced by nurses caring for women with breast cancer. A cross-sectional online study was conducted among registered nurses caring for women with breast cancer.

The cationic surfactant-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have attracted extensive attention due to their effectual destruction of the natural anti-degradation barrier structure in lignocellulose. In this research, functional DES Cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride:Lactic acid (CTAC:LA molar ratio 1:0.5 to 1:6) was fabricated for pretreating wheat-stalk.

Kawasaki disease (KD) is an acute systemic immune vasculitis with predominant involvement of the medium and small arteries. It mostly affects pediatric patients, representing the most common form of pediatric vasculitis in children less than 5 years old. Numerous diseases, especially those related to the immune system, have established links with the intestinal flora.

In recent years, N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (6PPD) has attracted significant attention in environmental science, yet its behavior in biological systems remains poorly understood. This study involved a 28-day zebrafish exposure experiment at three concentrations (2, 20, and 200 μg/L), to investigate its physiologically based toxicokinetic (PBTK) properties, the formation of biotransformation products, and the metabolic characteristics of liver tissue. The results indicated that the liver and intestines are key organs for 6PPD accumulation, with tissue-specific distribution patterns.

Lentiviral vector-transduced T cells were approved by the FDA as gene therapy anti-cancer medications. Little is known about the effects of host genetic variation on the safety and efficacy of the lentiviral vector gene delivery system. To narrow this knowledge gap, we characterized hepatic gene delivery by lentiviral vectors across the Collaborative Cross (CC) mouse genetic reference population.

Background: Zygomatic complex fractures are prevalent among maxillofacial bone injuries due to the prominence of the zygomatic arch, which can significantly impact facial aesthetics and the ability to open the mouth. Although non-surgical interventions are available for mild cases, severe fractures necessitate surgical intervention. The surgical repair of zygomatic arch fractures poses a risk of injuring the temporal branch of the facial nerve (TBFN).

Introduction: Joint involvement is present in up to 95 % of patients with SLE. Arthritis is a main cause of work-related disability and 70-80 % of lupus patients in clinical trials have active joint manifestations.

Objective: To review the evidence on the application of musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and optical imaging (OI) in patients with SLE hand and wrist arthritis, discuss measurement properties of US, MRI, and OI, and to provide combined results from these studies.

Purpose: Approximately 10% of prostate cancer (PCa) are prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-negative, leading to blind spots in PSMA-based diagnosis. This study aimed to identify a potential target for PSMA-negative PCa and preliminarily evaluate the feasibility of using radionuclide probe targeting the identified target for PCa diagnosis.

Methods: Quantitative protein analysis was performed on eight PSMA-negative PCa and eleven controls to identify a potential molecular target, followed by validation with an expanded cohort using immunohistochemistry.

As interest in sustainable food production grows, significant strides have been made in developing plant-based meat products. However, this field is still in its early stages and faces several challenges, with replicating the texture of animal meat being the most critical hurdle. Therefore, this review provides a comprehensive overview of the key proteins and polysaccharides commonly used in plant-based meat formulations.

Background: Understanding the intraosseous vascularity of the femoral head is important for preserving its structural integrity and function. Disruptions in microcirculation can lead to osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). This anatomical study aimed to quantify the regional distribution of the microvessels within the trabecular bone of the femoral head.

Accurate virtual orbital reconstruction is crucial for preoperative planning. Traditional methods, such as the mirroring technique, are unsuitable for orbital defects involving both sides of the midline and are time-consuming and labor-intensive. This study introduces a modified 3D U-Net+++ architecture for orbital defects reconstruction, aiming to enhance precision and automation.

Despite the widespread use of metabolomics and proteomics to explore the molecular landscape of depression, there is a lack of consensus regarding dysregulated molecules with replicable evidence. Thus, this study aimed to identify robust metabolomic and proteomic features in depression by integrating evidence from large-scale studies. In this study, a knowledge base-mining approach was adopted to compile a list of dysregulated molecules derived from metabolomic and proteomic studies.

Introduction: The impact of distinct primary colorectal cancer (CRC) sites on lung injury and complications remains largely unexplored, despite the palpable differences in surgical positions, procedures, and the resulting mechanically induced respiratory pressures at each site.

Materials And Methods: This study employed a forwards-looking approach utilising the propensity score matching (PSM) method; 300 patients with pathological CRC after laparoscopic surgery from April 2019 to May 2023 were enrolled. Two categories were bifurcated based on their surgical locations: the rectosigmoid colon (RSC) group and the descending/ascending colon (DAC) group, with a 2:1 ratio.
