Purpose: Run-Mu-Ling granules (RMLG), a traditional Chinese medicinal formula, are used to treat dry eye (DE); however, the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. This study aimed to elucidate the potential molecular mechanisms by which RMLG alleviates ocular surface inflammation in DE.
Methods: We established an in-vivo DE rat model and in-vitro human corneal epithelial cell line (HCEC) injury models.
Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), complicated by type 2 diabetes, is associated with a high incidence of ocular surface disease, and no effective drug treatment exists. Diabetes mellitus (DM) MGD shows a notable disturbance in lipid metabolism. Er-Dong-Xiao-Ke decoction (EDXKD) has important functions in nourishing yin, clearing heat, and removing blood stasis, which are effective in the treatment of DM MGD.

Dry eye (DE) is a prevalent ocular surface disease in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). However, current medications are ineffective against decreased sensation on the ocular surface. While electroacupuncture (EA) effectively alleviates decreased sensation on ocular surface of DE in patients with T2DM, the neuroprotective mechanism remains unclear.

Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats with induced dry eye, achieved through extraorbital lacrimal gland removal, were treated with electroacupuncture. Comprehensive metrics such as the corneal mechanical perception threshold, palpebral fissure height, eyeblink frequency, eye wiping duration, behavioral changes in the open field test, and the forced swimming test were employed.

Objectives: To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture and sodium hyaluronate eye drop in the treatment of aqueous deficiency dry eye.
Methods: A total of 60 patients (120 eyes) with aqueous deficiency dry eye were randomly divided into an observation group (30 cases, 1 case dropped out) and a control group (30 cases, 1 case dropped out). In the control group, sodium hyaluronate eye drop were used, one drop at a time, 4 times a day, for 14 consecutive days.
Objectives: To observe the effect of acupuncture on the ocular surface symptoms and the protein expression of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) / cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/protein kinase A (PKA) / aquaporin 5(AQP5) signaling pathway in lacrimal gland tissue of aqueous tear deficiency (ATD) type dry eye model, so as to investigate its mechanism underlying improvement of ATD.
Methods: British shorthair guinea pigs were randomly divided into blank control, model, acupuncture, sham-acupuncture and medication group, with 8 guinea pigs in each group. The ATD model was established by subcutaneous injection of scopolamine hydrobromide (0.
The increase of tear osmolarity caused by excessive evaporation of tear phase is the main pathological mechanism of dry eye disease (DED). Puerarin, the major bioactive ingredient isolated from the root of the Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi, has been reported to improve ophthalmic diseases in clinic.

Methods: A dry eye guinea pig model was established by subcutaneous injection of scopolamine hydrobromide. Guinea pigs were monitored for body weight, palpebral fissure height, number of blinks, corneal fluorescein staining score, phenol red thread test, and corneal mechanical perception threshold.
Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on ocular surface sensory neuralgia and the expression of P2X receptor (P2XR) and protein kinase C(PKC)in cornea and trigeminal ganglion (TG) in dry eye disease (DED) guinea pigs, so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of ocular surface sensory neuralgia in DED.
Methods: Male British tricolor short haired guinea pigs were randomly divided into control, model, medication (pranoprofen), EA and sham acupuncture groups, with 8 guinea pigs in each group. The dry eye model was induced by subcutaneous injection of scopolamine hydrobromide solution (0.
Objective: To observe the effect of acupuncture on expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) in lacrimal gland of rabbits with dry eye, so as to explore its underlying mechanism in improving dry eye.
Methods: Healthy male New Zealand rabbits were randomly assigned to 5 groups (=6 in each group), namely, blank group, model group, western medicine group, acupuncture group and sham acupuncture group. The dye eye rabbit model was estabilished by subcutaneous injection of Scopolamine Hydrobromide solution for 21 days.
The effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of dry eye has been confirmed, but the association between acupoint selection and therapeutic effect has remained to be elucidated. In the present study, a systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to evaluate the effect of periocular acupoints and periocular acupoints plus body acupoints compared with AT for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). In this paper, a segmented planar imager with a novel hierarchical multistage sampling lens array is proposed, which can effectively improve the sampling of low and medium frequency information. Based on the novel lens array architecture, a full-chain signal level model of the segmented planar imaging system is established, considering the fill factor of lens array and the wavelength spacing of the arrayed waveguide grating in PICs.

MATERIAL AND METHODS The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification method was applied to detect the polymorphisms of variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) in the SMYD3 gene promoter region for 156 patients with ovarian cancer (case group) and 174 healthy people (control group). Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blot were applied to detect SMYD3 mRNA and protein expressions.

The ability of fresh lemon (Citrus limon) to convert protopanaxadiol-type saponins into ginsenoside Rg3 was investigated, and the structures of 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 (1) and 20(R)-ginsenoside Rg3 (2) were identified by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The experiment showed that lemon possesses the strong ability to hydrolyze ginsenosides. When protopanaxadiol-type saponins (16 mg/mL) were hydrolyzed by fresh lemon juice at 80 degrees C for 3 hrs, the conversion ratios of ginsenoside Rb1, Rb2, Rc and Rd were 92.
