Actuation is normally dramatically enhanced by introducing so much yarn fiber twist that the fiber becomes fully coiled. In contrast, we found that usefully high muscle strokes and contractile work capacities can be obtained for non-twisted MXene (TiCT) fibers comprising MXene nanosheets that are stacked in the fiber direction. The MXene fiber artificial muscles are called MFAMs.

Timely detection of COPD has the potential to enhance treatment results. This study seeks to investigate the association between a new metabolic indicator, the lipid accumulation product (LAP), and the risk of developing COPD.

Across the globe, frailty is moving toward the forefront of health and medical research. Currently, frailty is believed to be preventable and reversible, so the early identification of frailty is critical.

The mechanisms underlying this phenotypic shift remain unclear. This study investigates the activation dynamics of molecular signaling pathways in macrophages and microglia after stroke.

For this purpose, the effect of different concentrations of furfural on the production of biomass and lipid in D.

This study investigates the mechanism by which MALAT1 dysregulation contributes to the pathogenesis of idiopathic non-obstructive azoospermia (iNOA). We analyzed MALAT1 levels in two gene expression profiling datasets comprising patients with obstructive azoospermia (OA) who have normal spermatogenesis and 13 patients with iNOA.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are playing an increasingly important role in the field of energy storage owing to their low cost, high safety, and environmental friendliness. However, their practical applications are still handicapped by severe dendrite formation and side reactions (e.g.

In this study, a solar simulator with a filter was used to establish two light conditions (with and without the ultraviolet [UV] spectrum) for a light-adaptation period (120 d) in Magallana gigas. Following adaptation, Cd was introduced into seawater containing M.

This study was designed to investigate the effect of pretreatment with a small dose of esketamine on the incidence of myoclonus induced by etomidate.
Methods: One hundred adult patients, who were scheduled to undergo selective operations with general anesthesia, were randomly divided into two groups, with one group receiving esketamine (Group E) and the other receiving normal saline (Group C).
Objective: This study aims to investigate the potential causal relationship between monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and lung cancer.
Methods: Genetic data on MUFAs and pathological subtypes of lung cancer were extracted from genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The primary analysis utilized inverse-variance weighted analysis (IVW), with additional methods including the weighted median method, MR-Egger regression method, and weighted model method.
Preeclampsia (PE) is a hypertensive disorder during human pregnancy. Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor. Exogenous and endogenous AhR ligands can induce hypertension in male rats and mice.

In the context of cell signal transduction, a significant challenge lies in ensuring the effective perception of external signals and the execution of appropriate responses. To investigate this phenomenon, a recent study utilized as a model plant and induced stress by administering abscisic acid (ABA), a plant hormone, to elucidate the involvement of leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase1 (LRR1) in ABA signaling pathways.

Objective: Self-determination theory (SDT) deems that people have three causality orientations: autonomy orientation, control orientation, and impersonal orientation. Previous studies suggested that lower autonomy orientation or higher control and impersonal orientations may be associated with more addictive behaviors. Our study aimed to investigate if these associations exist in Internet gaming disorder (IGD), and if sensation seeking, anxiety, and depression could influence the associations between causality orientations and IGD symptoms.

Autophagy facilitates nutrient reabsorption and recycling under nutrient stress by degrading intracellular components, thereby enhancing plant nitrogen use efficiency.

However, the effects of inflammatory cytokines on the whole brain in patients with depression are still not fully elucidated. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between inflammatory cytokines and cerebral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features using voxel-based whole-brain analysis in patients with depression.

Here, we demonstrated that the activity of vGluT2 neurons in the rostral PPN is correlated with locomotion and ipsilateral head-turning. Beyond these motor functions, we found that these rostral PPN-vGluT2 neurons remarkably respond to salient stimuli.

Though several deep generative models have been employed in biological sequence generation, including variational autoencoder (VAE) or Wasserstein generative adversarial network (WGAN), these models might struggle with mode collapse and low sample diversity. In this study, we introduce the multinomial diffusion model (MDM) for promoter sequence design and propose a structured set of criteria for effectively comparing the performance of generative models.

The macroscopic corrosion morphology, microstructure, and tensile properties were analyzed. The results indicated that WE43 alloy will corrode rapidly during exposure under marine atmospheric environmental conditions, resulting in a loose and porous Mg(OH) layer on the surface.

Therefore, we aim to develop and validate a nomogram to predict the risk of SSI following LDH surgery, thereby helping spine surgeons design personalized prevention strategies and promote early recovery. Data from 647 patients with SSI who underwent LDH surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University (AFMU) from 2020 to 2023 were collected.

Here we show that for extended structures made of 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)pyrene (PyTTA) linked with methoxy group functionalized terephthalaldehyde aldehydes, simple substituents on the aldehyde linker can have profound structure directing effects due to noncovalent interactions. Specifically, reacting 2,3-dimethoxyterephthalaldehyde with PyTTA gives a 2D covalent organic framework with unique AA-inclined-AA stacking and bilayer pyrene motifs, whereas reacting 2,5-dimethoxyterephthalaldehyde with PyTTA gives a 1D crystalline polymer with AB stacking and isolated pyrene motifs.
