Impact of COVID-19 on HIV services and anticipated benefits of vaccination in restoring HIV services in Ethiopia: A qualitative assessment.

Background: HIV services were inevitably disrupted and affected due to COVID-19. There are many challenges in implementing appropriate HIV services, particularly in the provision of health care and the link between people living with HIV/AIDS and retention in care. The study investigated the impact of COVID-19 on HIV services and the anticipated benefit of the COVID-19 vaccination on HIV service restoration in North Shewa, Oromia, Ethiopia.

The International Sexual Health And REproductive Health during COVID-19 (I-SHARE) Study: A Multicountry Analysis of Adults from 30 Countries Prior to and During the Initial Coronavirus Disease 2019 Wave.

Background: There is limited evidence to date about changes to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) during the initial wave of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). To address this gap, our team organized a multicountry, cross-sectional online survey as part of a global consortium.

Methods: Consortium research teams conducted online surveys in 30 countries.

An analysis of the survival impact of dexmedetomidine in children undergoing cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

Objective: Recent evidence suggests the α2-adrenoreceptor agonist dexmedetomidine may promote metastasis of cancer cells. In this study we sought to evaluate the impact of dexmedetomidine administration on the survival of children and adolescents with cancer.

Design: Retrospective chart review.

A Centralized Report on Pediatric Japanese Encephalitis Cases from Beijing Children's Hospital, 2013.

Fifteen pediatric cases of suspected Japanese encephalitis (JE) were reported in Beijing Children's Hospital during the late summer of 2013. The clinical manifestations in most cases included high fever, seizures, and abnormal magnetic resonance imaging findings. Twelve of 15 cases were laboratory-confirmed as JE cases by pathogen identification.

Existing Models of Maternal Death Surveillance Systems: Protocol for a Scoping Review.

Background: Maternal mortality measurement remains a critical challenge, particularly in low and middle income countries (LMICs) where little or no data are available and maternal mortality and morbidity are often the highest in the world. Despite the progress made in data collection, underreporting and translating the results into action are two major challenges that maternal death surveillance systems (MDSSs) face in LMICs.

Objective: This paper presents a protocol for a scoping review aimed at synthesizing the existing models of MDSSs and factors that influence their completeness and usefulness.

Synthesis, structural diversity and fluorescent characterisation of a series of d10 metal-organic frameworks (MOFs): reaction conditions, secondary ligand and metal effects.

Along with our recent investigation on the flexible ligand of H(2)ADA (1,3-adamantanediacetic acid), a series of Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal-organic frameworks, namely, [Zn(3)(ADA)(3)(H(2)O)(2)](n)·5nH(2)O (1), [Zn(ADA)(4,4'-bipy)(0.5)](n) (2), [Zn(2)(ADA)(2)(bpa)](n) (3), [Zn(2)(ADA)(2)(bpa)](n) (4), [Zn(2)(ADA)(2)(bpp)](n) (5), [Cd(HADA)(2)((4,4'-bipy)](n) (6), [Cd(3)(ADA)(3)(bpa)(2)(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)](n) (7), and [Cd(2)(ADA)(2)(bpp)(2)](n)·7nH(2)O (8) have been synthesized and structurally characterized (where 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-dipyridine, bpa = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane and bpp = 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane). Due to various coordination modes and conformations of the flexible dicarboxylate ligand and the different pyridyl-containing coligands, these complexes exhibit structural and dimensional diversity.

Time course of Gag protein assembly in HIV-1-infected cells: a study by immunoelectron microscopy.

Recent biochemical studies have identified high molecular complexes of the HIV Gag precursor in the cytosol of infected cells. Using immunoelectron microscopy we studied the time course of the synthesis and assembly of a HIV Gag precursor protein (pr55gag) in Sf9 cells infected with recombinant baculovirus expressing the HIV gag gene. We also immunolabeled for pr55gag human T4 cells acutely or chronically infected with HIV-1.
