A norovirus outbreak triggered by copper intoxication on a coach trip from the Netherlands to Germany, April 2010.

We report an unusual outbreak of norovirus infection on a coach trip. Overall, 30 of 40 people (including drivers and crew) developed nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhoea, 11 of them on the first day of the trip. The incidence epidemic curve showed a first peak on Day 1 and a second on Day 4.

Andreas Vesalius and Jan Baptist Van Helmont are the two major personalities who contributed substantially and in a different way to the early development of renal anatomy/physiology of the 16th/17th century in the Southern Low Countries. The importance of A. Vesalius' publication 'de humani corporis fabrica libri septem' cannot be overestimated.

Andreas Vesalius was born in Brussels on December 31, 1514 from a long line of physicians. He died in Zante in 1564. He was a typical son of the Renaissance.

[Blood lead levels in young children in The Netherlands].

Objective: Determination of lead content in blood (Pb-B) of young children in the Netherlands, to assess the influence on Pb-B of the ambient environment and to verify a surmised decrease of Pb-B.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Centres and suburbs of Rotterdam and Amsterdam villages in the Geul Valley (Limburg), neighbourhoods in urban areas in Limburg and Flevoland.

[Contamination of production animals with environmental pollutants and public health risk].

Exposure to dairy products contaminated as a result of environmental pollution can be an important route of exposure for humans. Whether this route of exposure will cause a serious health risk depends on many factors. In this paper three examples of different types of environmental pollution are discussed with regard to exposure to contaminated dairy products.
