Objective: Kawasaki disease (KD) is a childhood vasculitis with conflicting reported North American trends in incidence and patient characteristics.

Objectives: (1) determine KD incidence between 1995 and 2017; (2) compare patient characteristics by era and age group; (3) determine complication and cardiovascular follow-up rates.

Open surgical approaches are still often employed in neurosurgery, despite the availability of neuroendoscopic approaches that reduce invasiveness. From an analytical chemistry standpoint, determining the chemical attribution signatures (CAS) of synthetic reaction mixtures is an impurity profiling exercise. Identifying and understanding the impurity profile and CAS of these chemical agents would allow them to be exploited for chemical forensic information, such as how a particular chemical agent was synthesised. Being able to determine the synthetic route used to make a chemical agent allows for the possibility of batches of the agent, and individual incidents using that agent, to be forensically linked.

This paper presents a new mechanics model for unidirectional notched-tube continuum wrists, a class of mechanisms frequently used to implement distal steering in needle-sized surgical robotic instruments. Existing kinematic models available for these devices are based on the simplifying assumption that, during actuation, all the notches undergo the same amount of deflection, so that the shape of a wrist can be approximated by an arc of constant curvature. This approach is analytically attractive, but, as we show in this paper, it can sometimes fail to provide good tracking accuracy.

Existing static and kinematic models of concentric tube robots are based on the ordinary differential equations of a static Cosserat rod. In this paper, we provide the first dynamic model for concentric tube continuum robots by adapting the partial differential equations of a dynamic Cosserat rod to describe the coupled inertial dynamics of precurved concentric tubes. This generates an initial-boundary-value problem that can capture robot vibrations over time.

How well could one predict the growth of a leafy crop from reflectance spectra from the soil and how might a grower manage the crop in the light of those predictions? Topsoil from two fields was sampled and analysed for various nutrients, particle-size distribution and organic carbon concentration. Crop measurements (lettuce diameter) were derived from aerial-imagery. Reflectance spectra were obtained in the laboratory from the soil in the near- and mid-infrared ranges, and these were used to predict crop performance by partial least squares regression (PLSR).

Objective: To assess physical activity and sleep rates in a cohort of children with epilepsy (CWE) and determine if there is a relationship between physical activity and sleep time.

Methods: Children aged 8-14 years with a diagnosis of epilepsy and at least one seizure in the past 12 months were monitored via a wrist-worn activity tracker for 16 weeks, to objectively measure daily physical activity, as assessed by step counts, and sleep time. Adherence to physical activity (≥12,000 steps/day) and sleep recommendations (≥9 h for children aged 8-12 years, or ≥8 h for children aged 13-15 years) was determined.

We have developed a new measure, the Side Effect Attribution Scale (SEAS), which examines the degree to which people believe their symptoms are treatment side effects.
