Backgrounds/aims: The efficacy of neoadjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (N-TACE) in resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains open to debate. While N-TACE may reduce tumor size, its impact on long-term outcomes is inconclusive.

Methods: This meta-analysis reviewed studies on N-TACE before surgical resection vs.

Article Synopsis
  • Indonesia and French Guiana face similar challenges in emergency medical care access, particularly in the prehospital phase.
  • Unlike in France, where emergency medicine is a fully developed specialty, Indonesia is still developing this field.
  • A partnership was initiated between Jakarta University and French Guiana University, leading to the launch of a joint program in emergency medicine that started in August 2022, graduating its first class of 50 Indonesian doctors in August 2023.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (IHH) affects healing after tooth extraction in rats by examining the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF mRNA, as well as angiogenesis.
  • Forty-five male Sprague-Dawley rats underwent tooth extraction and were grouped based on varying IHH exposure frequencies and control conditions, with gene expression and histological changes measured post-surgery.
  • Results showed that IHH exposure significantly increased HIF-1α and VEGF mRNA levels, enhancing angiogenesis compared to normoxic controls, with the most substantial effects noted shortly after initial IHH exposure.

This study aimed to enhance the mechanical properties of PMMA composites by introducing various types of fillers, including ZrO, SiO, and a mixture of ZrO-SiO nanoparticles, which were prepared as prototypes for an endodontic implant. The ZrO, SiO, and mixed ZrO-SiO nanoparticles were synthesized using the sol-gel method and the precursors Tetraethyl Orthosilicate, Zirconium Oxychloride, and a mixture of both precursors, respectively. Before polymerization, the as-synthesized powders were subjected to the bead milling process to obtain a well-dispersed suspension.

Background: In a hypoxic state, fatty acid breakdown reaction may be inhibited due to a lack of oxygen. It is likely that the fatty acids will be stored as triacylglycerol. The aim of this study was to analyse triacylglycerol synthesis in the liver after intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (HH) exposures.
