This study aimed to understand the response of neutrophils stimulated by Streptococcus uberis, a major cause of mastitis. It was found that the production of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) was induced in milk clots from mastitic milk produced by S. uberis-infected bovine udders.

CS-K2 is a Gram-negative bacterium first isolated from the sediment of the littoral zone of a freshwater lake in Germany. We here present the complete annotated genome sequence of this thiosulfate-oxidizing bacterium, spanning 3.54 Mb and encoding 3,192 protein-coding sequences.

In autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), renal cyst lesions predominantly arise from collecting ducts (CDs). However, relevant CD cyst models using human cells are lacking. Although previous reports have generated in vitro renal tubule cyst models from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), therapeutic drug candidates for ADPKD have not been identified.

As the population ages in Japan and worldwide, the number of informal caregivers, such as family members, providing nursing care to older individuals is increasing. Among caregiving tasks, repositioning care, which causes lower back pain, is frequent and burdensome for caregivers. Therefore, we developed a position-changing device that can adjust and support the care recipient's body in the lateral position.

Background: Colonic motility is regulated by various factors along the gut-brain axis; however, detailed mechanisms are unknown. This study aimed to examine the involvement of the autonomic nervous system in colonic motility. Suncus murinus (suncus) is a small laboratory mammal suitable for gastrointestinal motility studies.

Key Clinical Message: EDTA-dependent pseudothrombocytopenia as well as myelosuppression should be suspected when thrombocytopenia occurs in patients with autoimmune disease during chemotherapy.

Abstract: A patient with pancreatic cancer and ulcerative colitis developed transient ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-dependent pseudothrombocytopenia with exacerbation of ulcerative colitis during chemotherapy. Unfortunately, pseudothrombocytopenia could not be immediately detected because thrombocytopenia was masked by a reasonable time course of adverse events associated with chemotherapy and ulcerative colitis recurrence.

Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy for Bilateral Choroidal Metastases Involving Macula and Optic Disc.

This case report discusses the case of a 76-year-old woman with choroidal metastasis from breast cancer who was treated with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Choroidal metastasis is a common ocular tumor, and the occurrence of this condition has increased due to improved diagnostic tools and longer survival of metastatic patients. IMRT is an innovative radiation therapy technique that reduces complications and improves the curative effect by concentrating radiation on the tumor while minimizing exposure to surrounding tissues.

Fractalkine's dual role in inflammation and hard tissue formation in cultured human dental pulp cells.

This study aimed to explore the potential roles of fractalkine/CX3CR1, primarily expressed in vascular endothelial cells and has recently been identified in dental pulp cells at sites of pulp tissue inflammation, not only in inflammation but also in pulp hard tissue formation. To this end, cultured human dental pulp cells were grown in 10% FBS-supplemented α-MEM. Fractalkine was introduced to the culture, and COX-2 and dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP) expression levels were evaluated via western blotting.

Contrast-enhanced ultrasound findings in testicular torsion and non-testicular torsion.

Purpose: Testicular torsion requires emergency surgery; thus, prompt and correct diagnosis is very important. Ultrasound with color Doppler is usually the first-choice modality for diagnosis; however, skill and experience are required for confident diagnosis. Recently, contrast-enhanced ultrasound for the diagnosis of testicular torsion has been reported, but there have been only a few reports.

Dermal suctioning has been reported to yield effects similar to those of cupping therapy in humans and horses, including pain reduction, increased blood circulation, improved flexibility, and healing. However, there is a dearth of reported outcomes concerning cupping or dermal suctioning in dogs. In this study, we examined the physiological effects of dermal suctioning in dogs.

The efficacy and safety of multi-loop traction device for gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection: a single center prospective pilot study.

Although gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is widely used, the degree of difficulty varies greatly depending on the lesion. Since the multi-loop traction device (MLTD) has been suggested to shorten the procedure time in colorectal ESD, we examined the efficacy and safety of using the MLTD in gastric ESD. Thirty patients with gastric neoplasms were prospectively enrolled from February 2022 to December 2022, and the outcomes of ESD with the MLTD were evaluated.

Methods: Immediate release (IR) and SR tablets containing croscarmellose sodium, alkaline excipients and/or hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) were prepared and examined for wet strength and in vitro drug release behavior.

Recently, in acute myeloid leukemia, the focus has shifted to flow cytometry analysis targeting CD34 CD38 leukemic cells due to their effectiveness in minimal/measurable residual disease detection and prognosis prediction. Nevertheless, the immunophenotype and cell frequency of these cells in the bone marrow, in the absence of leukemic cells, remains unknown.
