Hepatobiliary diseases are frequently associated with ulcerative colitis. The most commonly reported syndromes are primary sclerosing cholangitis, chronic active hepatitis and cirrhosis. Recently, the association of primary biliary cirrhosis and ulcerative colitis has been reported.
