Translation and Validation of 'Foot Health Status Questionnaire' in Dutch.

The aim of our study was to develop a Dutch version of the Foot Health Status Questionnaire (FHSQ-NL) and evaluate its measurement properties according to the COSMIN definition (COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments). After translation of the FSHQ, a group of 119 randomly selected patient who visited the outpatient clinic for conditions affecting the foot and ankle were asked to participate, of which103 patients were included in the analysis. The FHSQ-NL, a validated Dutch FAOS and a visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain and function were used in this study as outcomes measures.

Background: Affective disorders, encompassing depressive-, anxiety-, and somatic symptom disorders, are the most prevalent mental disorders in later life. We assessed which type of osteotomy would be most suited for correcting an increased fourth to fifth intermetatarsal angle (IMA) and metatarsophalangeal angle (MPA) and would have the best results regarding the clinical condition and satisfaction. The study design was a systematic review and meta-analysis. The main outcome measures were the IMA, MPA, and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Lesser Metatarsophalangeal-Interphalangeal scale and satisfaction scores.

A prospective 24 months follow-up of a three component press-fit prosthesis for hallux rigidus.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the results following total first metatarsophalangeal (FMTP) joint replacement arthroplasty using a modular three component press fit prosthesis at two year follow up.

Methods: All patient data was collected in a prospective way in four study centres. Both preoperative and postoperative evaluation consisted of an assessment using the AOFAS-HMI score, visual analogue scale for pain, evaluation of the range of motion and patient satisfaction scores.

Implantation of resorbable gentamicin sponges in addition to irrigation and debridement in 34 patients with infection complicating total hip arthroplasty.

We evaluated a prosthesis-retaining treatment protocol for prosthetic joint infection in patients presenting at a mean of 116 days (range 10-1216 days) after primary arthroplasty. Our regime involved irrigation and debridement followed by implantation of biodegradable gentamicin loaded sponges which do not require removal after implantation. Of 34 patients with a deep infection after total hip arthroplasty, Twenty-five were treated successfully, with a mean follow-up of 35 months.

First metatarsophalangeal joint replacement: long-term results of a double stemmed flexible silicone prosthesis.

Traumatic recurrent distal radioulnar joint dislocation: a case report.

Isolated acute distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) dislocation is a rare injury (Garrigues and Aldridge III in J Bone Joint Surg Am 89:1594-1597, 2007]. Reports of isolated DRUJ luxations, volair or dorsal, are often case reports and rarely a series of cases [Dameron Jr in Clin Orthop Relat Res 83:55-63, 1972]. We present a case of an acute traumatic dorsal DRUJ dislocation treated with cast immobilization with recurrence of the dislocation after a new trauma some months later.

Arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint using a single screw: retrospective analysis of 109 feet.

The preparation of the joint surfaces and the way in which fixation is achieved might be relevant in success or failure of the arthrodesis. All patients were selected from archived records of operations performed at the 'Groene Hart' Hospital in Gouda, the Netherlands, from 1996 until 2005.

Linoleic acid isomerase from Propionibacterium acnes: purification, characterization, molecular cloning, and heterologous expression.

Propionibacterium acnes strain ATCC 6919 catalyzes the isomerization of the double bond at the C9 position in linoleic acid (c9,c12, 18:2) to form t10,c12 conjugated linoleic acid (CLA, 18:2). Functional characterization of iron-substituted tristetraprolin-2D (TTP-2D, NUP475-2D): RNA binding affinity and selectivity.

A new monoclonal antibody, Wue-1, which specifically recognizes normal and malignant plasma cells, is characterized.
