The evolutionarily conserved AAA ATPases Rvb1 and Rvb2 proteins form a heteromeric complex (Rvb1/2) required for assembly or remodeling of macromolecular complexes in essential cellular processes ranging from chromatin remodeling to ribosome biogenesis. Rvb1 and Rvb2 have a high degree of sequence and structural similarity, and both contain the classical features of ATPases of their clade, including an N-terminal AAA subdomain with the Walker A motif, an insertion domain that typically interacts with various binding partners, and a C-terminal AAA subdomain containing a Walker B motif, the Sensor I and II motifs, and an arginine finger. In this study, we find that despite the high degree of structural similarity, Rvb1 and Rvb2 have distinct active sites that impact their activities and regulation within the Rvb1/2 complex.

A 45-year-old woman with a history of refractory catamenial focal epilepsy since age 16, treated with a five-drug antiepileptic regimen and VNS (implanted eight and one-half years prior), presented with dyspnea, chest discomfort, and lightheadedness. During observation, symptoms recurred and were associated with bradycardia (<20 bpm) and a complete atrioventricular node (AVN) block.

Purpose: This study sought to examine if achieved postoperative alignment when compared to the native anatomy would lead to a difference in Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), and whether the achieved alignment could be broadly categorised by an accepted alignment strategy.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study of prospectively collected data on patients undergoing single primary or bilateral simultaneous total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was carried out. CT scans were used to determine the mean change ("delta values") between the pre and postoperative; hip-knee-ankle angle, lateral distal femoral angle, medial proximal tibial angle and femoral implant rotation.

Biofilm and thrombus formation on surfaces results in significant morbidity and mortality worldwide, which highlights the importance of the development of efficacious fouling-prevention approaches. In this work, novel highly robust and superhydrophobic coatings with outstanding multiliquid repellency, bactericidal performance, and extremely low bacterial and blood adhesion are fabricated by a simple two-step dip-coating method.
