Case: We describe a patient who self-amputated his hand using a log splitter, because of a long-standing belief that the limb "did not belong to him." On admission, he refused replantation and was found to be nonpsychotic. He was diagnosed with body integrity identity disorder (BIID) and declared competent to make his own medical decisions.

A 3-dimensional (3D) printed targeting device has the potential to reduce procedure time and intraoperative radiation exposure. Case: An eighty-one-year-old man had begun taking ciprofloxacin one week prior to the sudden inability to extend the metacarpophalangeal joint of the ring finger of the dominant right hand. He presented to us three months after he initially noticed this finding.
Conclusion: Ciprofloxacin-induced tendon rupture appears to be possible in the extensor digitorum communis tendons of the hand.
Study Design: A retrospective review of 42 patients treated at three major medical centers for burst fractures of L3, L4, and L5. This is the largest low lumbar (L3-L5) burst fracture study in the literature to date.
