Elevated cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression has been observed in various types of cancer. Induction of COX-2 expression has been reported to increase invasiveness and angiogenesis of tumours. While COX-2 overexpression has been repeatedly proven to promote tumor growth, little is known about what initiates its induction.
