Background And Objectives: After surgical drainage of a chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH), middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization aids in preventing the revascularization of the cSDH membranes at the capillary level and, in turn, reaccumulation. With the MMA circulation ipsilateral to the surgical side often being disrupted, there is recruitment of collaterals from the contralateral MMA tree to the ipsilateral cSDH membranes. This study investigates the hepatoprotective effects of olive oil and flaxseed oil on chemically induced hepatotoxicity in rats by evaluating key biochemical parameters, including free fatty acids, iodine value, liver enzymes (ALP, ALT, AST), cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL levels. The results demonstrated significant improvements in these markers with the administration of olive oil and flaxseed oil, either individually or in combination. The free fatty acid percentages and iodine values were consistent with the known nutritional properties of the oils.

We previously demonstrated that 50% of children with obesity from consanguineous families from Pakistan carry pathogenic variants in known monogenic obesity genes. Here, we have discovered a novel monogenetic recessive form of severe childhood obesity using an in-house computational staged approach. The analysis included whole-exome sequencing data of 366 children with severe obesity, 1,000 individuals of the Pakistan Risk of Myocardial Infarction Study (PROMIS) study, and 200,000 participants of the UK Biobank to prioritize genes harboring rare homozygous variants with putative effect on human obesity.

Given the impact artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical technologies (hardware devices, software programs, and mobile apps) can have on society, debates regarding the principles behind their development and deployment are emerging. Using the biopsychosocial model applied in psychiatry and other fields of medicine as our foundation, we propose a novel 3-step framework to guide industry developers of AI-based medical tools as well as health care regulatory agencies on how to decide if a product should be launched-a "Go or No-Go" approach. More specifically, our novel framework places stakeholders' (patients, health care professionals, industry, and government institutions) safety at its core by asking developers to demonstrate the biological-psychological (impact on physical and mental health), economic, and social value of their AI tool before it is launched.
