Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare the photometric cyanmethemoglobin method of hemoglobin estimation with the automated Medonic counter, involving 110 adult cases excluding hemolyzed samples.
  • - Results indicated that the manual method showed a mean increase of 0.85% over the automated counter, with variability measured at 2.3% for the Medonic counter and 2.7% for the photometer.
  • - Both methods were found to be accurate, but the manual method is more cost-effective for smaller sample sizes, while the automated method is better for handling large batches in busy labs, given the higher costs.
